So the UPS dude probably curses me as its nears go time on a build. Side note, as much as I despise social media, I have a new Instagram for this build @garage_678 - still on the fence about how long I can stand that nonsense---moving on.

I am especially pumped and pleasantly surprised on the appearance of the ASV C5 kit. I prefer the shortly levers since I already had to have one finger reattached thanks to the long factory blades we all ran back in the day. Not about to repeat that trip to the ER. Anyhow, things will continue to progress as cleaning takes place and I throw the new top end in the motor (OEM, nobody panick). Factory Connection should be receiving my rifle case cradling the most tired set of SSS forks and shock I have ever seen. I sent my radiators to ICW on the east coast for the works bracing and repair. Just waiting on wheels, shrouds, side plates, rear fender, and the dreaded linkage/swingarm bearings.

Keep following for more lively updates beginning Friday.

BTW, a set of graphics has been ordered...

There’s nothing wrong with aftermarket pistons such as namura, vertex, or wiseco. I’ve used all three, but everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.
I wouldn't trust a namura.

Well, I finally worked out a few bugs I had with the brakes. Turns out they just won't feel like the Honda systems no matter how you treat them. I rebuilt the master cylinders before heading out to the track Saturday and still thought there should be more braking power to bear right down on. Aside from the brakes, I decided to bite the bullet on a Lectron due to the fact that Texas varies in elevation from sea level to 2700' above. Bottom line is that the Lectron is worth every single penny. The only thing you really have to get used to is the heaviness of the spring and just twist the throttle like a man!

I added this to my bike checks last night...check it out!

I couldn't agree more about the week yz front brake. I switch up between my 19' KTM 450 and a 16' yz125 on practice days. Absolutely love everything about the YZ except that front brake. When I get off the KTM and on the YZ the front brake is almost scary how bad it sucked.

I picked up a used 17' CRF450R complete front brake setup. Master cylinder, line and caliper. Ditch the CRF bracket and use the YZ bracket. Everything bolts right up. Night and day difference. Braking on par with the Brembo. I actually like the CRF Nissin modulation better than the Brembo.
So after reading your post I decided to pull out the CRF master cylinder that I had that was missing the washer and snap ring. I swapped out the two pieces from the yz stock master and surprisingly they fit. I back bled the system and now I have the rock hard brake action that my 17 450 has. I did the same as you and just swapped the mount on the crf caliper and it mounted right up. The only difference is maybe the stainless steel brake line I had from a previous build. Going to take her out one more time Wednesday night to make sure everything is good to go for Houston.

Looks great! However, any chance that front MX33 is reversed (direction-wise)?

Yes, you are right. Honestly, I haven’t noticed much of a difference. I’ll flip it around.

Although, I didn't finish well I have to say that this was one hell of an experience and I do recommend that you try it. Looking back, I wish I had run C class because B was as fast as A class in this setting. For my first time on a supercross track I felt pretty good by days end. I found the setup to be slightly chaotic due to the fact that my truck wasn't picking up the announcing radio station too well making it tough to know exactly when we should be heading to staging. Below are the two pictures that #MadMoose got of me on the 125. I will be posting others in my 17 CRF450 bike check as well. If anyone has any questions about the #supercrossfutures feel free to reach out and I'll give you my take on it. Well thats all for now. Time to get to work.

Well its been a while. Yesterday, I ordered new bottom end components such as the main bearings and water pump components. I suspect I may be ordering a new cylinder once I get the motor apart. The main issue I intended to fix was that a previous owner had bored out the oil drain to a monster bolt from Lowes. It began leaking mid summer and I parked it and rode my 450 for the rest of the season.

I was able to find a decent eBay deal on a case that was used but in good shape off a 2013. I am a little puzzled by the fact that coolant is leaking from somewhere other than the overflow, but we will see...

The part I hope you all will find exciting is that I ordered a compressor powered airbrush and Duracoat liquid to do the cases, covers, cylinder and cylinder head.

I won't say what colors I am doing, but the difference between this Duracoat application project and the last application process that I used on the frame is that I will manually be mixing the hardener and ceramic coating before loading in into the airbrush.

One the frame, I had used Duracoat's "can within a can" option which I liked just fine. For coating firearms I think the can is more usable, but on dirt bike parts the airbrush will waste less with overspray and allow me to apply a more even coat.

I will be sandblasting my components to prep them and I will do a few different videos showing my blasting setup, engine removal, disassembly, prep, reassembly, and later on how it is holding up after a few supercross futures training sessions.

That being said, if there is something you would like to get further details on please comment here, on youtube, or message me. Should be getting started in the next few days. Parts should arrive Friday-Monday. Stay tuned...

Since my last post I have split the cases, removed every bearing, washed, blasted, washed, and coat the motor and frame.

Right to the pictures...

Next up are the photos of the coated parts in various stages...

Note: I hated the look of the copper coated head pipe and went over it with black...better, but I am probably going to replace it with a standard fmf factory fatty. That being said, if anyone is interested in the black ceramic coated pipe shown here DM me and I will make you a deal.

Below are the finished engine photos. Side note, if you don't have an engine stand buy one! It really helps in the process. Got mine from Rocky Mountain ATV MC online.

Details: Duracoat Copper and Gloss Black used on the engine cases.

Tom Morgan cut the head, matched a vertex piston, and ported and polished the cylinder.

Here is the finished product of the last months labor!!! The only thing I am waiting on are my MotoTape frame protectors.

For anyone attending the Arlington (Dallas Fort Worth Texas) round of Supercross Futures, I will be competing in 125B/C on this bike. Be sure to swing by my pit anytime to check out our Corporatemoto merchandise and see this upclose.

I would really like to start a channel. But it seems every time we have a project lined up something changes or there is a quick deadline that throws video time out the window. I wanted to get a channel started with quick how to or easy cheap bike refresh projects before I started a series on my bike but it's looking like my bike will be the first project. Big swing $25k bike straight out of the gate to 0 subscribers 🤦‍♂️

Do you know who did the graphics the first time around. Looking to do something similar and love the Monster look.
Thanks in advance,

Can't believe its been near 2 years since I updated this...of course squaring off with cancer and still being around to tell about it has made the last while a blur.

Relocated to Houston last year...I've been out a 3 Palms a time or two and Rio Bravo.

Thank you! Not to worry...this build is never done. I've got it in my head now that all the coating needs to come off and a new project will soon be unfolding lol
