Wardy mentioned something about having a $$ race after Washougal in Sturgis.

Anyone have any info/pics on the track? Curious if it will be a build for the race field type race or a permanent facility.

I drove through Deadwood/Sturgis on my way home from Big Sky a few years ago, and it was beautiful!

Haven't been there in years, the motocross track, short track, and hill climb used to be in the same area there on I-90. I can recall going to the rally when I was a kid with my parents in the 70's, the motocross race would draw some pretty big names and of course the hill climb and short track races were always fun to watch. Looking at google maps the motocross track has moved since the 70's from south of the hill climb to more behind the short track.

Where is the mx track? The only track I saw when lived there was pretty far south on hwy 79 going towards Hill City. I don't recall seeing a track near the hill climbs. This was early 00's so obviously things change.

There is a track on the south side of the interstate. It's run by the Jackpine Gypsies motorcycle club.

Don’t know about any MX, but that weekend August 3rd is round #2 of the Endurocross series at the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis

I know Micky Dymond has been working on something, he has had some posts on his IG about it. The folks that run Sturgis are trying to bring a younger crowd in, hence the various promotional connections with Cary Hart, etc.

Very limited parking inside the complex for a ton of people and rigs, usually a pretty good pit party before the races at night. Hope like hell they don't leave the sprinklers on all night or that place gets just dumb. Late afternoon will be dusty as hell.

They have tried this several times in the past. Best attempt was an arenacross in Rapid City during Bike Week. There is not nearly enough parking at the Jackpine facility for a big race. Dont count out Buffalo Chip campground doing something though.

Yes. I remember seeing a drawing of the track layout, Micky Dymond, Jeff Ward, and Brian Manley design, they were making the track last fall on an IG post. Looked like killer natural terrain location??

They are building a new MX track at the Buffalo Chip Campground using the old lucas oil truck track area. They have pretty big plans, I hope it becomes everything they say it will. This will have nothing to do with the Jackpine Gypsies. Jeff Ward and Micky Diamond are designing the the MX and Supermoto tracks.
