2018 crf250r

Hi there I got a 2018 crf250r and need some good engine oil for it. it's my first bike with engine and gear box oil mix together and don't have a clue what's the best oil for it.any help?

what does the manual say? use that.

Pretty much every regular engine oil which works with a wet clutch is ok.
I'd choose a full synthetic oil. Personally I use Motul 300v right now and have used Putoline nano tech offroad 4 in the past with no problems.
I like to put a high quality oil in it and leave it in a little bit longer instead of putting a cheap oil in it and changing it more often.

Cheers wideopen. I was told about honda gn4 but it's to expensive. Normally I use motul for 2stroke and been happy with it.for many years that was my nr1 choice. But with this crf250r new engine I was not sure about it. Cheers for help

I run Royal Purple 10W-40. I use the Max Cycle in my 2017 CRF 450R. I've been using the their regular oil in the engine side of my 2012.
I've read a lot of people are using Shell Rotella oil in their bikes.
It all really depends on what you're willing to spend. The Shell is probably the most effective, where Amsoil or Motorex will cost more. If you can't decide, just buy the Honda oil your book recommends.

Honda synthetic. It's $10 a quart from RM.

Turkey drippins is the new hot ticket in the northern europe area, doesn't hurt the seals and has good viscosity, also, sustainabilites.

Read your manual for service intervals and use an hour meter. You can get a good number of hours out of the high quality oil they recommend. I laugh when I hear about guys changing oil every ride.

Motul full synthetic for me, as much as it might be overkill I always replace oil filter at same time

Yeah, the manual says you should do oil changes every 15 hours. Also says to do piston rings every 15 hours.

Don't always trust the manual. If I did, I'd only be doing 2 oil changes a year, but also 2 top-ends a year
