Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
Had to buy a standard KTM SX85 lever, take the spring, rod etc from that lever and put it onto my ARC lever so that it would work with the Magura master cylinder.
Also managed to get the wheels built up whilst I was waiting for parts to arrive -
The airbox was unsurprisingly filthy and looked like it hadn’t ever been cleaned so I disassembled it, cleaned it up and added a Twin Air power flow filter cage.
I’ve now also installed a titanium filter cage bolt which isn’t pictured.
This was also going to be hiding a couple of surprises..
Power valve looked like it hasn’t ever been cleaned...
On closer inspection of the inner clutch cover I noticed that it had a crack in it so ordered a new one

Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
It’s more than just aesthetics though, definitelt changes the characteristics of the bike
i would go with the stock plastics
Also added the new inner clutch cover as the old one was damaged.
Went with a full Wiseco clutch, bolted up the pro carbon igntion cover, pro circuit clutch cover and added new hardware throughout.
Hoping to get the top end sorted this week but haven’t decided on what piston to go for yet...
Edit: The clutch basket bolts haven’t been peened in the pics but I did peen them before I fitted it
Had a bit of spare time today so managed to get the motor in the frame and mounted up.
I’ve added a couple of pictures below of how the bike stands now -
Where did you find the Light Speed ignition cover and PC clutch cover?
What's involved with the SSS conversion? Being in California I'm planning on sending my suspension off to Race Tech for all the upgrades but I'm curious what you had done.
Pit Row
I’ve got a friend who lives in California so he went down to Pro Circuit and picked me up the clutch cover, he’s also good friends with a guy who works at Lightspeed so he managed to get me the ignition cover.
The SSS conversion on the 2004 is actually pretty straight forward as the forks go straight on without any modification but 2004 is the only year of steel frame that accepts the SSS forks without any modification.
If you’re wanting to do the SSS conversion then you’ll need different clamps, you can use clamps from an 04 but I’m sure you’ll have to press a out the old steering stem and have a different one pressed in.
Also, if you’re going to be using SSS forks from a 2009 YZF250 for example, it’s easier just to use everything from the front end of that bike ( front wheel, spacers, axle etc).
The SSS forks are pretty good out the box but I had them revalved and set for my weight, with regards to the shock, it’s a two piece shock from Cooper Webb’s old bike which I had modified and set up for my weight
However, ended up purchasing another bike in tbt week so I’ve got something to ride whilst I’m fishing up the YZ!
It’s a 2017 KXF250, bike is completely standard apart from some suspension work from what I can make out.
Any advice on good mods would be much appreciated!
Cheers!
I’ve fitted the braided Hel brake lines and bled the brakes, fitted and bled the hydraulic clutch and put the new chain on.
I will get pics but I’m wanting to get the carb and full exhaust system on first
I picked them up from a friend of mine in California, think it was around $120 for the triples and bar mount but I’m not sure as it was a while ago now
The ‘04 is such a good base bike to build from, I only planned on building a Reed replica but things got a bit carried away haha!
The air box that’s on the bike is actually the one that came on the bike, I just spent a lot of time cleaning it up..the bike had a restyle kit on it when I bought it
