Did anyone else order from mototape on black friday and not get their order yet? I received and email with tracking saying that a label was created on December 8th but it has not made it to the post office yet. I actually placed the order on Nov 24th so we are going on a month now. Im not out a bunch of money just frustrated I emailed Mike about it earlier this week with no response and I did a search on the forum before this post and sounds like this was the same situation last year.

Id give them the benefit of the doubt and say they got a TON of orders and are making them as fast as they can.

Just buy some gator grip tape from amazon and cut your own. Same thing they are selling theirs is just precut. I have a friend waiting and has got no response from them at all.

Gator Grip : SG3104B Premium Grade High Traction Non Slip 60 Grit Indoor Outdoor Anti-Slip Tape, 4 Inch x 60 Foot, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V673B34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zq5gCb25V4TKF

Sounds to me like one of two things happened. They did ship your order and the carrier lost it, or they lost/misplaced it before it made it out the door. There's no reason for them to make a shipping label if they don't have the product to ship. The shipping company would charge them more for making shipping labels and shipping the product later than the specified date. I'd try to contact another person at the company. If there's a number you can call, go that route.

why would they send me tracking information on the 8th if the order wasnt even made yet?? i would think it would be wise as a business to answer your emails or if you are backlogged post it on social media or something. I would be fine with waiting but dont send me tracking info and then not actually ship the stuff.

I will send another email today from thier website contact form. The shipping confirmation listed an email to contact if you had concerns and i have not heard anything back. i dont think that usps lost the package their website says there was a label created and they are waiting on it.

When the shipping label gets printed you get an email. Depending on how his cart is setup on the website it may even be automatic.

Yeah, I understand what the website says. In my experience working in shipping, that can be a sign that the package was never scanned and got lost (not always). I hope you get your order sorted out!

I was told from a friend of Mike's that he is swamped with orders and getting them out when he can. So I can confirm nothing was lost. I too am waiting on my order too that was placed on Black Friday.

Not good business to get all that money up front and keep your customers waiting for a month...

Ive had that happen from graphics companies. Theyll make the label and all that 2 days after i order a kit and they wont ship it for 2-3 weeks later.

Youd think companies would be these pristine amazon like places but theyre just not. Theres really bad companies out there or ones that just take their sweet ol time.

Whos to say they werent on vacation for thanksgiving? That would leave them 2 weeks after they got back to fill all those orders and ship them. Think about employees on vacation. They could be short staffed too. You never know.

Id try calling though.

An email from the vendor may help... you could cancel and get s refund. The time seems a bit excessive.

Not acceptable customer service not answering emails and messages. Also that would be a poor business decision to go on vacation while having a sale like that. At the very least the vendor can utilize their social media and announce the delay and apologize.

As a manager, youre going to tell your employees they cant go home to see their families during the holidays? Thats a good way to kill employee morale and have them quit.

I get what youre saying but its not entirely practical.

As far as emails, i feel the same. Most small companies i have ever tried to email never reply. On the phone they have the best customer service though.

He is a one man shop so yes... He shouldn't have his biggest sale of the year and not be able to fulfill them in a timely manner. Read the link above from the vital post from last year about Moto tape. Am I going to have to wait until the end of January to get my order that was placed in November???? That's not right . Plain and simple. I'm not one to bash companies but this seems fishy

There is two ways to look at it. If you went to work for UPS and wanted to take off to visit family a week before Christmas and was told no, you should have known. I am a principal and always work with my teachers to let them be off when things come up, but don't ask for personal days during TCAP tests because I would have to not approve them.

I get it though about the poor customer service. It's always better to under promise and over perform than the other way around. If a company is a one man show like this one and has a sale that will create large volumes of orders, get some part-time help through this period.

I agree with you. Just trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Theres two sides of it. Dont accept 4000 orders if youre a 1 man shop. You wont be able to fill it in a timely manner. The standard today is order it today, it gets shipped tomorrow and at your house in a maximum of a week.

That shop should have a stock of parts before he announces a sale like that.

Few things, I respect he is a one man show and he is doing what he can. I cant speak on his product but i sure hope its good for the wait. His website has no phone number so that option is off the table. I can appreciate him being a small business owner and i would have no problem waiting for my order just tell me that you are busy. Problem solved its that simple. It states right on his website "You will recieve a shipping confirmation email once your order has shipped"

I ordered last year from him during black Friday. He pulls the same stunt. Prints shipping label asap and never mails the stuff. No bs the item showed up 5 months later.

I ordered upper and lower frame grip for a crf450r. The lowers lasted all of 2 hours of ride time. Total waste of money in my opinion. It is the exact same material as home staircase grip tape you can buy from Home Depot or Lowes. It also shreds the inside of boots and gear.

I'm all for supporting the moto community but this product is substandard and his customer service is horrible. Save your money.

Cancel order, get $$ back. No excuse for not responding to a customer. Hire more employees or soften the work load. No phone number should be the first clue, bad business.

I do have a dog in this fight as my boys to torture testing for this product. His regular tape is best we have used at holding up but nothing lastst forever. Fine line between grippy and tough. He has some stuff in testing that so far has been amazing. My oldest can strip frame tape in one day of riding or less and this prototype has lasted for a couple months. That is saying something-

And this stuff isn't the same thing you can buy anywhere. I tried before.

After working in eCommerce for a while now, there's a lot of different ways people do their shipping. A good shipping system will simply change the status of your order to being fulfilled or something like that.

Smaller companies generally don't have a good shipping software so they will simply print all the shipping labels along with the invoice and then put those in a pile to start packing. Problem with that is you get notified that a shipping label was created then you spend time waiting on them to fulfill it. That's probably why you were notified of it.

Looks like the issue has been resolved but figured I'd give everyone a heads up for the future. I love the instant gratification that companies like Rocky Mountain provide but it makes me super jaded when it comes to the smaller ones that take a little longer to ship and I just make myself aware that I am "spoiled" and deal with it. Smile

I’m a big fan of the attack graphics frame tape. It’s a rough rubbery material so it has tack but doesn’t destroy boots and pants.

Post a reply to: MotoTape.... Wheres my order?
