They messed up and put it back together with the kick starter on the wrong side.

Crud, sorry. That was the wrong post. I meant to say it was probably Mary Peterson that ported your engine

Damn, I thought of George but forgot all about the Moto Perfect Racing. To me it's just go see George.

Moto perfect! Thanks, do they do good work? I have another cylinder and was thinking of sending it to Eric Gorr.

George is an old school tuner that will talk to you to see what you really want out of your motor. He works from his garage. He lightly massaged the ports in my YZ465 cylinder and it became an easy starter and very smooth. He builds road race motors too. He has deep 2 stroke roots.

If I am not mistaken, MP stood for Marston Performance back then.

Hey @captmoto would you recommend George for four strokes? I’m also in Rancho and stopped by his house and talked to him today. He seems very knowledgeable about motocross bikes in general and said he could do the head on my CRF450 for a good price when I’m ready. All I care about is easy starting and something reliable.

This is just me but I prefer to have work done where I can see what's going on. I've never had any 4 stroke work done but he has worked on my YZ465. He's kind of an old school tuner. He started out as a mold maker or machinist I think. A buddy of mine had his '02 YZ250 ported by him and it is a crisp running bike.

Cool, yeah I’m the same especially with suspension. I don’t understand how people can send their stuff to big name companies and just assume the 18 year-old working on it is going above and beyond for customer #10003. I don’t know anyone who’s had their four stroke done by George but he definitely seemed to be on top of the current bikes.

Clean the bike before you take it apart?
Maybe he's going to clean it after he takes it apart. What difference does it really make until rebuild time other than to your parts cleaner? Not like it's caked on. You'd have a coronary in mining if this tingles your tangles enough to comment.

I stand to be corrected, he hurt his knee at Ironman and its possible he is still recovering.
