Bobby,
I have been looking for the 1987 Daytona SX (250) where Hannah leads it (#25) then Omara leads and RJ gets him at the finish. I am fairly sure this is the year, if so, do you know where I can purchase a copy. Had one years ago but let someone take it to watch and never saw it again.
Thanks.

Ringer,
thanks, do you know what year it is then?
It was a double gate start, Hannah rails around the outside and leads, then goes down on the asphalt hurting his arm, Omara is in the lead but RJ sneaks past with lappers in the way. Omara realizes its RJ at the last section and hits the finish line table wide open. He felt that he won it but they gave it to RJ, Omara refused to go to the podium for his second place finish.
Anyway, if you figure out which year this was let me know. Thanks.

1987...Last Daytona I raced...Pretty discouraging day. No mechanic, track was a sloppy mess. Crashed while passing for a transfer spot on the last lap of the LCQ. Could have made a grand finishing last in the main. Instead left with a whopping $100. Loaded my trashed bike up and drove my broke ass 18 hrs straight to get home. Left the bike in the Econoline for a week.

I recall the race that O'mara launched the finish line was 1982. Raced as an amatuer that year. It was a fairly large normal jump with a deep pit dug out in the landing area that measured about 30-40 feet long. It looked easy after he did it but back in the day it was huge. I bet mini riders would jump it today.

Are you fairly sure about the year?

BobbyM posted the 1985 Daytona SX a few months ago. I saved it. Hannah won after db and Wardy crashed. Hannah was on the gas that day.

in 82,. the finish line was by the front straight, it was a turn, into a sand pit, and another turn. barnett chased darrell shultz at the finish but schultz got it.

in 83, hannah won daytona.

im sure the race you guys are trying to remember is 84, i remember hannah fell and hurt his wrist but didnt see it. i thought it was Omara that hit the wall crossing the pit road.

Isn't this race in that supercross classic box from the eighties that was released two years ago or something? I don't remember the name of it, but I have 3 dvd where RJ is both winning and loosing the title. Think the span was between 1986.1989.

I will check this weekend.

Yup, that's ol' George Matson for sure.

He sure helped Ricky and Dean much back in those days.
