Running UK event in march is nothing but ordering enduro style mud hole.
I rather watch Assen sand race than mud fest in 3rd world country anyways..

Apart from the shitty and dangerous manmade track, it is horrible for the fans as well. Just grand stands and nowhere where you can walk or stand at the trackside. If you want to get something to eat or drink you have to leave your seat and it takes about 30 minutes to get back and see your seats have been taken by someone else...
Hell on earth, if you ask me.

Even though it will be the biggest oppurtunaty ever for the Dutch to win a MXdN, I'll probably stay home.... GFY Youthstream and Luongo

It's amazing that Hawkstone can run in February without half of the infrastructure... You obviously get good English weather updates in Finland though so perhaps you know better than the promotor who has been doing it for over 10 years Huh

It was legit snowing last year Laughing Think it helped with the ground being frozen on how well kept it was

It was legit snowing at Valkenswaard this year too, in fact much colder than Hawkstone ( i was at both)... Should we stop going there as well?

Did you go to the Matterly MXoN?
The track rode well but it was hard work for us spectators. Some areas were a boggy mess, and with the off camber banks it made getting around the place hard work. It was fairly wet that week/weekend of the MXoN but nothing compared to the March we had this year.
The camping area was a swamp as well, my tent went in the bin after that

Last year in 2017 it rained at approximately 12 rounds, and the MXON... Rain sucks. But if Steve Dixon can agree to host the event in March, then i figure it must be ok.

Racing point of view tbh I would love to see more mud races, it's just a completely different racing and so much more exciting.

Look at it from a spectators view either walking round in snowing/freezing or muddy conditions people don't want that. Racing at MXON was great but trust me standing in a swamp all day isn't, the weather for MXON wasn't that bad but if it rained all day it would be much worse. End of the day Dixon needs to make money so its worth MXGP going back next year if it's a swamp every year people just wont go. It's maybe going to be raining 50% of March where normally in June/July its maybe 15% which odds would you rather take?

I live up near Manchester so either way I make the trip down rain or shine, but I have friends who live nearby who wont go if its shit weather and that probably goes for a lot of people who live local. So why risk it when there's a good chance of rain? Obliviously a lot more logistics to running the event, but i'd like to think MXGP think higher of Matterley than the Indonesian tracks.
