What is a core cylinder worth? I have two that lost cir-clips and have vertical notches in them and I would like to trade two for a good one (plus $). They are '15 KX85's and we moved on to suzuki's so I would like a RM85 cylinder.

I agree. I have been fortunate enough to work with some amazing, world class builders, and Tom is among the best I have seen.

Hcallz5 - That is a pretty open ended question, but the simple answer is:

1. When there is obvious damage that can be felt with your finger nail
2. If the clearance with a new piston is larger than is specified by the piston manufacturer
3. If the cylinder is out of round or tapered as measured by a bore guage

As far as a cost for the re-plate of a cylinder retail is $209.95 if welding would be needed it is $274.95. If we were to purchase your cylinder we will give a $50.00 in house credit for each cylinder or $40.00 check, credit is the way to go so sell this option. You have to measure bore to verify if cylinder is still in spec if it is a clean up hone is only $89.95 retail. We also do evaluations for free so a customer can send any cylinder and we will inspect here and call to discuss options.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd try to inquire bout piston sizes and clean up bores on Millennium Technologies 96 RM295 big bore kit. Fixing to purchase this kit off evilbay but I'm hoping a couple of ckean up bores with piston sized are available though you guys or weisco. It makes really no difference in my buying decision on the kit, it would just be good insurance to know these things before hand before I get to far into riding hell out of it and then searching for this info. If this kit doesn't come with over bore pistons from weisco would it be possible to over bore the sleeve and have a custom piston built by some other piston manufacturer. Thanks ... BRIAN

Whatever piston you buy, Wiseco typically offers plenty of sizes to choose from.

Hi Brian!

Who are you buying a kit off ebay? Is it one of ours?

As a plated cylinder (we do plating!) you can always plate the cylinder back to size. You wouldn't use a .020 over piston and hone the cylinder like you would an old cast iron bore.

If you ever wear out your 295, give us a call. We keep replacement 72mm pistons in stock. If the bore needs attention, send us the cylinder and we will strip it and replate it back to size to match the new piston.

We offer two kits for your 97 KX250. Great bike by the way!

Both kits are very similar. We strip the cylinder, weld the ports, port the cylinder, plate the cylinder, modify the head and power valve, then send it back with a matched piston and gasket kit. I believe the both of these KX kits come with a Wossner forged piston.

What would it cost to have this welded and resurfaced?
The pitting/gouging is more pronounced around the edges.

The pitting/gouging is more pronounced around the edges.

Looks like that head would need to be welded and refinished so the price would be $159.95.
