Yamaha inverted motor for 2010?

Guy at dealer mentioned something to me. Japanese bikes are testing them but no pictures allowed. Anyone heard anything about this or what it's all about?

They have been mentioning that the 2010 Yamaha is supposed to have some crazy radical foward engine design so maybe that is what "Guy at dealer" was talking about

Inverted means opposite of what it is now or upside down. I'm assuming he meant a more forward angle such as the Husaberg.

spark plug is easier to get to..ha ha ha ..hows that level?

Straighter intake tract is the big one. I belive that has a cassette type transmission also, so the whole shebang can be slid out in one shot.

They still need to make the swingarm pivot they same as the countershaft like the beemer then it would be the bomb.

Read some rave reviews about that... Bike is designed around the flywheel which helps with the handling. So if they do this expect the 250f and 450f's to corner a much better.

Two things:

1) Yamaha broke new ground by being the first manufacturer with the 400F and 250F. Even though Husaberg beat them to the punch with this design it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they were the first Japanese OEM to do this.

2) I rode a Husaberg in practice at REM two weeks ago and the thing cornered like it was on rails.

The Husaberg brand is basically the testing ground for KTM's development. I think KTM will beat Yamaha to the punch since the Husaberg motor is theirs. I look forward to getting my 2010 KTM.

Cant wait to see what they do..they are due for a kick ass new bike, and I think they will deliver. They just came out with a kick ass new street bike (R1). Im sure the new YZ is going to kick ass, what ever it is

Inverted motor, must be for those Freestyle MX guys. When their upside down.

BTW...what the hell do we call our bikes next year?

Will it crank when you crash it or lay it on the ground to help another rider up? I'd think someone would want to fix that problem before totally redesigning an engine. I think crazy though.

Forward-tilted and inverted are different. I'm guessing from Swap's report that Yamaha didn't show off their new YZ, leads me to believe it must be radically different. We'll see soon, I guess.

The Boys in Blue do build some crazy S### sometimes. (See Photo) I'm hoping for something radical. Can't picture them just tossing EFI on the YZ450F and calling it new.
