...even if the contact was the cause of Tomac's flopping around (which he clearly started to do BEFORE Barcia made contact). Who cares? That was a love tap between the rear end of both bikes. THE BACK OF BOTH BIKES!!!!!!!!! i can't emphasize the area of contact enough. IT WAS THE BACK OF BOTH BIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not a t-bone, not a front-wheel take out. where is the dirty move?

contact is part of it, and it's unfortunate how that ends for some, but it's as fundamental (and unavoidable) as any other aspect of racing dirtbikes.

I can't believe how many of you get all bitch-boy about aggressive passing. It's like "what fucking sport do you think you are watching" this is how it's always been, some would say worse.
You got all that from the five words I typed? Next time I wanna post I'll let you know and you can do it for me considering you seem to know my thoughts better than I. Jeez some of you get all worked up over nothing lmao

ET didn’t sound like he was whining about it.
He said he got “taken out”. Fair enough.

Yes, he was taken out because he had very poor situational awareness at that moment and left the door open for Barcia to make a very legitimate pass.

It didn't sound too bad to me. You know Eli's got to be a bit frustrated with his season so far. I agree Justin ran it in a bit but Barcia was moving forward and desperate to keep a tight grip on his points. Dudes putting in the work and laying down some high caliber racing skills lately. Better wake up!

what was the point of the five words if they didn't say anything? why point out the contact if you think it was a fair pass? it's passive aggressive. ...and transparent...unless you do think that was a fair pass, in which case, you're just trying to push buttons by playing devil's advocate. Either way. you've said something.

anyway, it was generalized retort to the whole thread, prompted by your comment. I didn't mean to direct it just at you.

That wasn't a takeout last weekend. He needs to rewatch KW taking out DV. THAT was a takeout!

I don't think it sounded like he was whining, just stating a fact how he sees it. Technically he was taken out, whether that was the intention or not. Yes he was already off balance before Barcia made contact, he was trying to put his foot down to catch himself and gain his balance back, but that is when Barcia made contact pushing his foot back in and also took his hand off of the handlebar, no way Eli could have caught himself. Though, like others pointed out, he had gotten off balance in that corner before, difference is he was able to catch himself. Barcia made it so he wasn't able to catch himself, therefore he was taken out. The pass was clean yes, doesn't mean he wasn't the reason Eli crashed. Eli was definitely off all night, that doesn't mean he can't feel like that was a take out. He never said he blamed Barcia for his bad night... I don't know why people are so mad at him over all of this.

Also to those of you that say that he doesn't put up much of a fight... did you watch last season? Coming back from being almost last in the first turn and winning it, fighting up to the front any time he got a bad start. Winning 9 races when they all thought he didn't have a chance at the championship. The Vegas race. No you're right he just laid down and took it.

This reminded me of the last time we ever saw James pass Villopoto.

No shit... Those passes do look pretty similar. I think in both cases the biggest factor was that the guy getting passed was caught off guard.

What surprised me most about the Tomac video was his response to the question about getting up slow.

I don’t have a problem with it but there was clearly shoulder and arm contact too, which is actually what caused the crash. Tomac was a little off balance and the shoulder contact pulled him forward and down.

The only thing i’d be annoyed with is it wasn’t necessary and Barcia never passes clean. Same with Anderson. There’s always shit in it, which is why I find it hard to believe either will win the title. You need help at some point.

What happened to the days of guys crashing their brains out on lap one and getting back on a bent up bike. Then Not pulling over to the Mechanics area where they point at every little piece mishap...? They just race off raw adrenaline and rage—-too burn through the field and make a helluva pass in the last few corners?!?!?

Doesn’t everyone get up after a crash and ride twice as good as they ever did? Or is that mentality s0o0o0o stuck in the 2000s?

There was clearly contact, but that's racing. It could be simply Eli's way of getting his head right and getting back to just riding like he know how to. Time will tell.

Bet that Tomac still beats Barcia in the points once Vegas has concluded?
Bet that Tomac finishes ahead of Barcia tonight?
Silly
Everyone who made the main tonight ended up beating Tomac.

PS- Anyone who thinks that was a takeout is crazeeeee
