What a bitchen race Saturday night! I don't know how many watched the MX-Files after but there was a new commercial we did for Husqvarna's "Heroes Ride Huskys" campaign.

Don't get me wrong, my first REAL motorcycle was a 1970 250 Husqvarna Cross. But in my opinion most Motocross riders from today don't know a Husqvarna from shit. They'd be much better off re-branding the Husqvarna line with a modern touch. Torsten Hallman was my hero, but when I went to the Tom White museum one night with Tracy Beattie (of "Tracy's Husqvarna" circa 1970 era), we stopped by Motosport Outlets place in Corona. Tracy, at 82 years old, asked one of the mechanics if he knew who Torsten Hallman was (one of Tracy's personal friends in the late 60's early 70's). The mechanic had no idea who he was talking about, to which Tracy could just shake his head and wonder where a sport was going if a hardcore participant like this would have no idea who the founding fathers of modern American Motocross were. Want nostalgia? Buy a Harley-Davidson

So do I. They'd sell more Husqvarna's than they'd ever imagined. New Husqvarna TC250 engine was designed by the same Japanese engineer that designed the 5-valve head for Yamaha.

If JLaw gets his shit together and rides like he did in Daytona can you imagine what it would be like if he won the title next year on a Husky? That would shake some things up to say the least. Smile

Last year I rode a HUSQVARNA CR125 and it was awesome. Usually a taller guy with more than 165 pounds finds a 125 a little soft, but this suspension felt right. This may mean its stiff for who it's intended for, but I loved it.

I raced them a long time.When Cagiva bought husky from electrulux in 1986ish I had already been on them a year on the cr 430 and cr 250,both bikes had the same engine caes and frames,this included the 125.

In 1987 went to LL's got a 7th in 500's and got a ride in 88 on a 12 man team with 2 250 cagivas and a 125 to play on.I think the parts limit was $1500.Good times for a few year.Me and billy whitley are the only ones to put a cagiva in the top 10 there.After ruining the cagiva name by 1990 they left west coast to return thru ferracci in PA renamed husqvarna.

The frame and engine cases are made by gilera now.

Also,the old cagiva ads had a italy colored number 1 which was on the old harley factory in varse italy were cagivas were and still are made.

The Ca was for castillo brothers and Gi was gionne and VA for varse italy

In 2000 and 2001 they paid mad money and I made $24,000 riding them,The big TC610 was a beast of aa bike to ride.

I'd race one today if not for rob keith the runs husky usa,he is a dick head.

Just a little knowledge for the board there.

OH,and I saw the ad MXFILE,it was bitchin'.I ride one forever if not for that one guy,even told him so.

Is it possible to make a post about JLaw without someone losing their mind over it? What's wrong with wanting to see JLaw on one? He's a very fast rider that might be affordable and attainable for next season and when is the last time a Husky has made an SX main? I think it could be a very cool thing to see.

he never do it,the things are so far off suspension wise that it would take a good mechanic to help him thru the setup.

Actually I ride with a couple of guys with WR250s (2-stroke). Nice bikes. I still like my YZ250 though. Now, wouldn't you like to see them mixing it up again with Yamaha, Honda, Kawi, Suzuki, and KTM? Who would be able to get them to the show and make them relevant that isn't already bought out with funny money?

Yeah on a marketing standpoint, unless Husky is targeting a 40-45+ age bracket, their Hero Campaign is off the mark.

They are trying to show how much strength they had back then, but that is 100% irrelevant to what they stand for today. They sure look like great bikes to me and people that I know who own them, do like them. But their brand just does not have the power it did back then. So to try to make a parallel, does not make sense to me.

Not to mention that they should have spent more time focusing on the NEW bikes and quicker flashes of the old, if even reflecting on the old at all.

Again, I get what they were trying to do, but if I was the director of their marketing department, that would never leave the building.

Our local dealer here in Aus helps us out alot, gives great deals and he sells Kawasaki and Husqvarna. I'm currently riding an 09 KXF250 but my younger brother wanted to have a go on a 125, took a chance on the husky and absolutely loves it, i've ridden the thing myself and it is a really great bike to ride, great handling and suspension is good after a revalve. The motor sings like no other, love riding that bike!

Thanks for the comment and from what I gather a compliment. We work pretty close to the creative team for Husky and the 40+ market is exactly who they are targeting by design. They are outstanding brand guys - lifelong motorcyclists and experience on major branding programs within and outside of the motorcycle industry.

I think everyone at Husky realizes that the older crowd is the only market that the brand holds any relevance with and by focusing there, they'll sell motorcycles, make some money, be able to afford riders like a J-Law someday, develop the product more and start working back down to a younger demo. Someday presto...another rival to the big four.

Wouldn't that be nice?

Husky in SX? I think I remember Guy Cooper riding a 4 stroke 520 (?) in Dallas circa '97...It was muddy and nobody was jumping the triples. We were waiting for him to launch that thing.

i had a 79 250 cr..i hated that thing..i got the holeshot on a race..hit the brakes and the front braking bar broke and sent me over the bars in front of everyone..then the ignition cracked..couldn't get one for 3 months..finally found it at hi-point racing..then i was kicking it and the kick starter shaft broke in two..then one day i was warming it up and it seized..got rid of it

the last few Americans Husky had for sx were Travis Preston,Paul Carpenter, and maybe Tyler Evans. Preston actually won a 125 west round in 2001. I'd love to see Husqvarna get multiple MX and GNCC riders out there hanging with the big 5.
