and good point...(who a lot of people are riled up about came to an almost compete stop at the first turn)
you see jlaw didn't stop, he just turned left, bypassed the carnage and made his own detour....then got away with it. good for him i guess
Does anybody have any more information on what variables are used to make this decision?
12. A rider leaving the course must re-enter at the same point
or at the first point where he can safely without interfering
with other riders and without gaining an advantage. A rider
who fails to do so may be docked at least one finishing
position for the moto at the discretion of the referee. In
stadium motocross and Arenacross, a rider leaving the
course must be allowed to re-enter the course without
riding backward and may not be penalized, at the
discretion of the referee.
There is the AMA rule regarding this. If you know the rules and realize he was already off the course then re entering where he did was the safest option. It also states the rider may enter the track with out having to go backwards.
On the other hand Ferry was not and he in fact cut left then cut the track.
Wonder why your not bagging on him..?
What is amazing to me is how one sided you are.. How quick you are to call people names and how quick you are to judge sitting at home while others that are actually there, have all the camera clips and angles at their disposal make a decision that is not the same as yours.
The AMA has all this they watched it and have decided it was ok. I guess the extra camera angles you didn't get to see have no bearing on your view of an AMA conspiracy in the works..
I don't think JLaw had the option of staying on the track and going to the outside without having to go backwards before he could get to the outside. If that's what the rules state then cutting the inside to avoid the pile up was within the rules - no?
Didn't reed have to stop and pull his front tire out of another downed riders rear wheel before he got going again? Reed finished the first lap in 8th place. Jlaw was definitely in front of Reed and would have exited the first turn in front of Reed w/out the pile up
I just don't see how anybody can say 338 obtained an unfair advantage
He clearly grabs the brakes and slides to a stop. When avoiding Windham he goes to the left. Then when he reaches the end of his slide he is already inside the tuff block and off the track with his front tire pointing left.
you guys keep saying watch the vid. I have apparently watched it more than you have. Or at least I watched it with an open mind.
I counted 14 riders on the ground or completely stopped in the first turn carnage. Not including J-law and Ferry. Those riders are all fair game to pass.
Don't watch Bobby's little video watch this bigger version over and over and you decide.

weird but i didn't see one photog in the 1st turn...did you?
I have been accused of being a JLaw hater, but I just call it like I see it. In this case I see someone who took the only option available to them and made the best of it. He had a little luck last night, but deserved the position he got.
I give this guy a few more months tops.
Post a reply to: how many places did jlaw gain by cutting off the 1st turn?
