Ferry should have been DQ.

I thought you would have posted something about Mikey leaving the door open at the end of the race.

Well if all the photogs were not there maybe he would have entered the track 1 tuff block down in mid corner??
I dont think he did anything wrong it was a mess down there and he did wait to let captain holeshot go by before reentering the track.

Fair, maybe not. but what else could he do?? He goes thru the grass slow, kinda looking around.. then get back to the track, best way he can. then starts racin again. if he was trying to cheat. that new dunlap would of tore up some sod.

He came in at 2nd, not so fair, Reed waited behind the mess and won, huge difference.

No not fair but not much else he could have done and I doubt the AMA will do anything about it. He benefited extremely well from it, but there were several people who benefited from the first turn crash.

Let's say for the sake of argument that it was a rule infraction. It's up to the AMA to call it. If you could call it what sort of penalty would you hand out? What was the penalty given to other riders in the past for a similar infraction? How does that effect JLaw's 450 season, or how does it effect everyone elses season by not handing down that penalty? Let's debate it.

I agree. He had no choice but to go around the photographers. And it's not like he re-entered in the lead. He was around 7th which seems fair since half the riders were on the ground.

Good thing your opinion matters, right? The AMA's ruling, says otherwise, but if Sondy has issue with it...

In Hare Scrambles thats a great line!!!!

what the hell.

Disqualified or not he showed that he can run a pretty good pace for 3/4 of a main. that can't be taken away.

AND, i am no fan of this kid, the minute he was interveiwed is when he "failed".

just another old mx guy opinion

Yeah the slow guys, all the fast ones were in the crash or tied up by it, but the slow guys would get passed regardless. I'd like to see how Hill would have done if that mess didn't happen.

If they DQ him it gives James more points. It was such a cluster F that it is difficult to pin a penalty on him. If you look he starts to go more to his right and there are tons of photogs there. Should he plow them?

everyone is scared that j-law is going to start taking this sport over so they are all looking for a reason to get rid of him.

yes he cut the start but like ron said already he didnt exactly race through the section he looked around an then resumed racing. Ferry followed J-law but went on tuf block down and no one says anything about Ferry cutting the track.

Stewart still ran a fantastic race, he was 2nd to last if not dead last ? he made it to 7th, if it would have been a smaller track like traditional sx tracks he would have finished higher I believe. He rung his bell hard, see him trying to start Hill's bike ? he was lost for sure.

I don't think DQ would be an appropriate penalty though. I recall Reed getting penalized last year for not reentering the track in the proper place and they docked him like 10 seconds. I think that caused him to lose a position but don't recall. I'm pretty sure DQ would not be an appropriate penalty if that was an infraction. The question is, should they have docked him enough time to finish behind Stewart? If so Stewart could have gained 1 more point toward the Championship. That may or may not be significant and only time will tell. One thing for sure is that by not docking JLaw it will not mean that JLaw goes on to win the championship. I see this as pretty much a non-issue, unless James loses the championship by 1 point (which could happen).

Yeah, hope he didn't get another concussion. They are not as innocuous as once thought.

The only reason I said DQ, was everyone is having Irritable Bowel Syndrome over this. I think he did what was appropriate for the situation.

Whats funny is last year at this time we were all debating whether or not Reed had cut the track. Anyone remember that?

WOW, is all I can say!Woohoo
Sure I'm a huge Jason fan &
happy he got it together!
The 1st turn.
I've had the pleasure to be in
more than most for sure, so my take
is as follows:
1st, they could have "Red flagged it".
They've done that for more or less!
2nd, the Daytona start is usually fast!
Really fast, plus there's usually some
grass just depending, but sometimes it's
there.
This yr. in a big way it was.
It seemed to be overlooked, say during the
track walk, but there just the same.
"Human error" for James for sure.
No more no less, & a valiant ride.
But again the 1st turn.
There was nowhere to go in that instant,
nowhere! It's instant, fast & most don't even
have time or fore thought to think, you just react!
Like in a plane crash, it's survival!
I don't believe there will be any protests from the
way it looked on TV. They even showed it from different
angels. Again, INSTANT! Go to where it's safe, or go
where you see a hole........Grit your teeth & ride....
Had that been at a different spot on the track, then
circumstances would be different. But for me the way it
rolled, let it roll, or re-start it!
There was even questionable "outside assistance" so it seemed,
but they let it roll, so be it!
Props to all how survived it all & did well.
Daytona's always a tough S.O.B......

I had kind of wondered if they would red flag it, even was thinking that a few riders might lay there a little long to try and cause that. But to their credit they didn't, especially James, he would have had the most to gain from that. He was to busy trying to get on Hills bike...lol To his defense most of the time if there is a bike that looks like yours laying next to you, its usually your bike....haha James showed he is a champ and rode hard regardless.

Yep. he should have stopped, pulled his bike back and went right. Ferry should be docked also.

I think Ferry got 19th or 20th, so docking won't hurt him.

According to the rulebook, he did nothing wrong (even checked for incoming taffic on his right before re-entering the track).

Even if he did not break any rule though, the AMA could still evaluate his position gain in the process and dock him, say, 10 seconds (same as Reed last year and twice as much as what he got at A1, I think).

That would be fair and would not change the outcome of the race (he would'nt deserve that, imo, rode better than anyone but Reed).
