Is there always that much grass on the pre-ridden daytona track?

The track came on the camera during the 200 and many parts of it are just turf. Is it always like that or are they not done with it yet?

Seems like nowadays they build the track "on" the grass, where as back in the day it went "into" the grass down to that deep dark sand.

As for all the grass sections, i hope they arent done building the track, or its gonna be one WFO sumbitch.

yeah man,it is fun as tag teamin' 2 slutty girls to hit practice first.I remember the first year I raced it in 84 ,GB had built the whoops using lightpoles and by half day the dirt was gone and you were hittin' bare poles after running WFO down the start.

40 man gate also.

I went in 74 with dad to watch and they crossed pitroad into the grass at international horsehoe.Saw Karsmarker,Robert,RogerD,and the rest.

Every thread is for 500guy...

Anyway, I think it's cool that they are leaving the grass in some sections like that. It reminds me a bit of Unadilla when they used to open it up on the grass and let it get chewed up. It will be interesting to see how that effects traction.

the start is always pure perfect grass before the first practice gate drops. that would be so cool to be on that line. Cool

Yes , thats why is gets so rough, remember when Unadilla had a sack and they left it alone. Sod tracks get nasty rough.

The grass lasts about 5 minutes. The good part is that it mixes into the dirt and makes it moist.

Wow, what happens if a car comes spinning off the asphalt at 180 mph and launches off the triple?
