This year he is back at it with the Bonnier Group.

For the most part I agree with the amateur stuff. The B main is good, it can be extremely hard to make the amateur main and it's disappointing to have friends and family come out and not even be in the show. Been there a few times. Keeping points for the series is also a huge plus. A few years ago my son won most of his amateur main events but not
the championship because he didn't win the final.

As far as the track goes there's an easy solution, (easy for me to say- Ha Ha) as they did a few years ago. Make a hard matrix, but put pallets in it. Have a hard rock section with a turn, but have it so amateurs can hit it straight. Things like that where done at a lot of events in 2014.

As for the crowds, I don't know. Different locations definitely have more. Denver should have a good crowd. Seattle and Boise should be full! Daytona a few years ago was packed! Standing room only yet circumstances stopped us from going back.

The live stream is great. Much better than the tv package of the last few years. Good for friends and family to watch at home, plus we all can then watch it later on YouTube.
I agree with you.

For me who is strictly a Offroad rider I'm completely turned off of racing any rounds of ex this year after watching the first 2 rounds. I hate the new track layouts, it's more arenacross than enduro. It sucks for a technical Offroad rider because before maybe you didn't do a jump but there was plenty of technical sections to make the time back up but with the new layouts it's just jump jump jump and then the technical sections this year aren't long or hard or many of them. I love the sport of EX and I'll continue to watch but the new changes aren't winning me back as a competitor.

I think the off road world is a growing one for sure and I fully understand the hardcore off road dudes not liking the jump sections, however if putting those sections in attracts more riders that already have a following from their other discipline then it has to be to the benefit of the sport. And the way some of those off road only guys tackle the technical sections a few jumps should be a breeze!

Also is anyone racing an Alta in EX yet? (Presumably they are allowed?)

Kurt Nicoll (ex 500cc GP top rider) did last year and won a vet class.

They had a pro rider signed this year, but two turns into the first practice at Vegas he broke his bike and wrist.

A couple of thoughts as a first time live viewer:

- In regards to track design, I was quite surprised to see how jumpy it was when I first got there. It did look a lot like an arenacross in the middle part of the track. I'm indifferent on it because it added a bit of speed to the track, but it didn't do anything to separate the riders. I would have preferred to see some sort of water pit in there.

- I was there with a bunch of friends so I wasn't necessarily paying attention to the announcers throughout the night, but I had no idea the joker lane was even there until the main event when Haaker rammed into the back of Webb. I thought it was just decoration since it was never in use until the main.

- Livestock Events Center is unique because it has quite a bit of floor space, and I would have preferred to see a section like the difficulty of the joker lane be a "pro only" line where they had to hit it every lap instead of only once. I think this section will really show the fans just how talented the top guys are if they see it being hit lap after lap. Amateurs could have a path around it to save the really bad carnage.

- In some of the races I had no idea who the leader was. I was trying to rely on the little board on the finish line but it would almost always be displaying "new fastest lap". I honestly don't think anyone cares about the fastest lap. Just show the top 3 in the race order so we can identify the the lead riders at all times.

It was a fun time though and I'm glad I went to check it out. I will echo my same statement before in this thread, the ridiculous fees on Ticketmaster most likely turned people away from coming when they saw the total charges online.

NV825,
I have worked both rounds on the floor and will be working them all other than AZ. As for the Reno track the plan was for a water pit in the middle area. The venue had a horse event starting on Monday and didn't want the water or the chance of any cement pieces being left behind. There was thoughts for a pea gravel pit but they shot that down as well. Always a tough task to make everyone happy. But hopefully the majority will be. It had a jumpy feel to part of it but there was 2 supercross riders there and neither of them made the expert main. So it must not have been too easy.

Thanks
Dan

Been to so many motorcycle events in Vegas the past 16 years. Including the first Endurocross. Ryan Hughes won. Saw John Dowd win another year. Taddy win over Knight. Taddy dominate for years. I would take people to the finals who would say it was way more action packed than ever thought. Lap to lap you didn't know who could stay in the lead. The past three years I didn't go to any Endurocross events. The luster of the original tracks was gone.

The mini moto SX was a lot of fun in the early years also. The industry support faded and it disappeared.

Been to all the MEC. Usually more exciting than the SX finals.
