Lake Sugartree 1990

Maybe both! 1990 was probably my best year of racing, and TV coverage really picked up about then too. And there were literally 10 guys that could win on any given day/night. It was a good time!

I fall asleep every night dreaming about motocross in the nineties. Words can't do it justice.

As far as LST, I was there for that race...... easy to be nostalgic..... but man that place looks like a dump........ when were weedeaters invented?..... and if pro riders today had to race on that kind of track they would go on strike.....

The 90s were good at Lake Sugar Tree But but I preferred the mid-to-late 70s and 80s with the Trans USA's and Etc back when men were men and sheep were scared

pfffft ... dust and 'no flow'. where are all the great ruts that make mx exciting?

The rutted section to Lake Sugar Tree was right after the drop off then there was a ski jump that would always get rutted out

You know, I'm beginning to think that every era of motocross is the golden era to different people, and it all depends on what era do you most fondly remember. For some it's when they peaked in their racing career, or when they were most into the sport.

For instance, I LOVE gear from the late 90s. Not because it really looked any better, because that's all subjective. But seeing that gear brings back memories of wearing it while walking up to the start line of some of the biggest races I ever competed in. That's when I was at the track every weekend, and consumed every word of every magazine. It brings back those emotions just from looking at an ad, so to me, the late 90s were the golden era.

But it's different for everyone and thats great. There's some kid right now living out his golden era who will remember these years as the best ever for motocross.

Jeez, GNCC's are wider then that track now a days. lol

GNCC tracks have more in common with early mx tracks than current tracks do.

I was at that race too! Those whoops always freaked me out no matter how many years I raced there. I think they are gone now, but they really did separate the men from the boys.
That is definitely my personal golden era of moto, as it was a time when there was a bit of a generation shift from the old guard to Bradshaw and Stanton and Bayle. But the older generation was still fast.

Some things have changed since the 90's

I was at that race also. Lived in Raleigh NC at the time.

Spent a lot of time there back in the '70s and '80s. Would love to see the old DeCoster Sweeper, Triple Rollercoaster and the original right hand turn down by the lake before you head back up the hill towards the finish line added back to the lay out.
