I'm not sure going from a TTR 225 to a 450 or 250 2 stroke is the best idea. I just got back into riding a few years ago after over 20 years and the first bike I bought was a YZ 250 2 stroke. That was a mistake. I was never comfortable on the bike - the power delivery was just a bit much. I traded it for a CRF250R (2006) and was instantly happier. I weigh about 220 and the CRF was down on power a bit - especially given the track I ride most is sand. But my lap times very quickly improved dramatically (I know the OP doesn't intend to ride moto, but the improved lap times nicely reflect what happens when a beginner has a more appropriate bike). It was the perfect bike to relearn riding. I now am on a 2016 KTM 250 SXF and love it. It pulls my weight around with no problems at all, and handles beautifully. I think that people who have gotten used to their 450s or 250 2 strokes can easily forget what those bikes are like for the inexperienced. I'd say get a 250f that you can sell for more or less what you paid for it, and then get a more powerful bike later if you want. Personally, I've ridden a few 450s (17 Honda, 14 Yamaha) and prefer the feel of my 250. I'm just out to have fun, get some exercise, and go home in one piece and the 250f suits me perfectly.

I have kinda stepped away from dirt bike riding for a while but want to get back into it. As of right now all i have is a Grizzly 660 to ride so i wanna get a bike. I used to have an old TTR 225 which i didnt really use because it was kinda on the small side for me. That was probably 2-3 years ago. I tried riding my dads YZ 426 but it kinda feels to much for me because i have to be on my tippy toes to stand it up. Even though im a big guy, im 6' 3" and around 230 lbs. Should i go for a 250 or a 450?

Thanks.
Get a 450. Way more fun.

Honda 250/450...I've owned nothing but Honda 450s the past 5 years and have put 150+ hours on each bike...all I ever did was oil and air filter and I did oil every 12 hour or so and never an issue.

The 250F stock as only one lung lol.

I find the 450 more fun to ride. U can ride smooth, roll/wrap ? the track, thanks the power...

You can "play" more easily with the bike.

250F needs to be ride more like 2strokes, more aggressive riding.

It depends on your style, weight.

I was quickly bored with the 250F.

I'm not sure he's still deciding after 7 years, guys. *edit* just saw the person who brought it back asked the same question. I still say 250f.
