For those of you that have played around with powervalve settings, how close to the linear delivery of a 4 stroke can you get it? I miss the weight and simplicity of a 2T but the abrupt hit of my previous bikes (I'm talking long back like '01 RM250) were much more tiring to ride. Do you find these bikes are easier to live with than 2T's of earlier days?

Very clean look!
Great job on this simple and sleek graphics design.
Not a fan of the usual Rockstar treatment...
Which Graphic company did you use?

The Shorty Powercore 2.1 has been out of stock at FMF for couple of months and for some reason still no show.
Have you played with the PV spring? you might want to swap out Yellow (stock) for the red with a bit of preload.
Between PV and jetting, the engine characteristic can really be tailored to your preference,
I also tried the two ignition settings but so far haven't been able to notice significant difference

Only fit and finish area of concern I have seen is the rear break spring,
They do break. I carry a spare and will do the Fasstco return spring

Oh, and the guy who approved a design with dozens of different bolts head type/sizes should be fired..
(i.e. tiny Torx on one fork leg to bleed air and hex bolt on the other one)

But overall while "just" a carbureted two stroke, it's a fine piece of Engineering, well put together with quality components and a blast to ride.
Plus can't beat the sound of a crisp/well jetted 250,,

That was going to be my next question. does anybody play around with the power valve settings and springs? I like the idea of being able to play with the delivery. how smooth can it be made to be? or is more of a different RPM range hit type deal?

I swapped the spring for red one 2 turns in,,much quicker. Stock was yellow 4 1/8 in. I got aftermarket reeds and sanded the reed cage. 40-1 and 460 main at 200 ft above sea level. This combo hits quick and fun for small arena cross track I ride.

I no longer own a TC250. But via some testing done with a few local pros here in the New England area the mod is switching to the 2015 KTM 125/150 sx keihin carb. 38mm pwk carb. 6.5 slide.

Many of you are familiar with the NECJ needle from a 2008 RM250. This needle works very well with this carb. They have had luck with 170-175 main, and 38-40 pilot jet. Both bikes tested were 2017 KTM 250SX models. Both had FMF works bikes and 2.1 silencers, also VForce 4 reed blocks. Running VP C12 @40:1. They have also set the power valve correctly via the manual. Both bikes qualified for the MX338 national so they must be running good! Hope this input helps!

Also another mod you will want to do is change the top triple clamp to a 2015 style to prevent the bars from twisting. That was the first thing I did on my 2017 FC450. I run mine with the ktm PHDS style mounts.

stock setting on my bike was yellow spring, 3.25 turns in from full out
now @ red spring 2.25 in from full out, noticeable improvement in broadening the power.
also put on a PC 304silencer, not the shorty, again noticeable improvement in over-rev, substantial actually>
Only issue right now is an extreme bad lean condition, running jd jet kit, blue needle 3.5 clip, next weeks project is 4th clip and a little larger main (currently 420).

I had not adjusted my power valve spring until yesterday and it did make a pretty big difference. It was around 2 turns in from full out, and I adjusted to 1 turn in from full out. Definitely comes on the pipe quicker and feels like it is a bit broader. Going to try the red PV spring next time.

I have cut my head down by 0.020" without any changes to combustion chamber. It runs great on pump gas and the jetting is very stable.

Right so My TC250 is ordered, put me deposit down yesterday, I'll get the first one in Queensland. Now I just have to wait for it o get here. The salesman showed me the ETA of the MX models will be August but the manager said expect it September for some reason. Either way I'm way too keen to get it.
