Noguchi dirtbikes, 125cc

Does anyone know more about this old school parts/tuner factory other than they used yamaha parts?
Any info would help.

Nope, can't be a CR frame, looks like it has twin down-tubes...... shocks look the same though.

The US distributor was located here in ATL. Used to see lots of works stuff here at the local races and they had two really fast riders Dennis Hall and Jimmy Merck.
Here is Merck on his 100 in 73.

They sold kits with a cylinder, piston, carb & pipe...maybe the reed assy. also. A friend of mine has got the whole kit with spare pistons and rings, gaskets etc. to put on a YZ125 twin shocker.....should be sweet if he ever gets around to putting it together...

Didn't notice that. I was looking at the rear of the frame with the fender loop, the shocks and swingarm and the entire front end.

the best noguchi rider in the US ever was Neil MacDannald, only guy I'ver ever seen go by magoo, me and the shu like we were going backwards. no shit.

All of Shaun Kelley's YZ80's were full Noguchi's and my YZ125's from mid-'73 through early '75 were also. These were built by my dad through Humble Yamaha near Houston.

Gene McKay was a local racer from around here. I bought one of his old Noguchis that was bad fast. He had his own Jap mechanic (Hachi) that kept his stuff up.

What's Gene up to these days? Shaun and I hung around him during the '74 Y-AMA series and the World Mini also. The three of us took 1-2-3 at the Y-AMA National in Iowa in '74. I got third. I also rode some 125 Nationals with him in '76, hanging together between 15th and 20th.

Gene has made some bad choices. Bob Collie and I were racing at Loretta's in 2003 and he came out to watch. That is the last time I talked to him. He was working in construction for a guy that he and his son races. He says Gene will jump on one of their bikes every now and then and fly around their track.

I raced against Gene on one of his Noguchi Yamahas at the Patoka, Indiana AMA national in 1974 or 1975 (I can't recall which...early onset Alzheimers, I reckon).

That was one serious-fast kid on a seriously fast bike.

Very sad to hear he's made poor choices.

Bob remember Cantalupi racing Neals bike?? it had the springs on the out side of the forks I had Nogushi YZ 80 i just found one of the barrels out in my dads garage the other day i hope your doing good! !!! stay out of trouble and have a merry christmas

In 1971 I had a Yamaha AT1MX. Noguchi was THE perfromance aftermarket gods for Yamahas. I worked at a Kentucky Fried Chicken and was making $1.65 per hour but I HAD to have the Noguchi internal rotor ingnition. The ignition was $65.00 so I had to work about 50 plus hours to save enough money to buy it.

The end result was amazing and well worth the $65.00. To bad the bike still handled like shit!! :-)

I just went to Houston this weekend and picked up a sweet original 87 CR250. While admiring all the old moto junk in his garage, he hands me an old race program from Rio Bravo 1974. Lots of names in this thread were right there in print. Photos too! He's supposed to scan it and e-mail it to me. I'll have to post some of them up when I get them.

Back to Shinobi water cool heads I did most of the testing for them and was the first to race in a National in I think 1977 with water cooling.

I rode Shinobi in '76. Used one on my YZ175 in 250 Nationals (2). See my avitar. That's a 175 in the 250 National in Houston in '76 (439)
