Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM team claimed his first Dutch Masters title in the MX 1 class at the Zwarte Cross in Lichtenvoorde. He did so by didnt of victory in both heats.
Jeffrey Herlings Claims Dutch Masters of Motocross Title at Zwarte Cross
Combining the series finale with the well established Zwarte Cross ensured a crowd of teens of thousands. 22.000 spectators attended the event over the course of the weekend.

Despite initial misgivings about the track, which remained remarkably smooth throughout the weekend, things panned out well for him. He started off by saying the fastest qualifying time, and followed up by winning the qualifying race.

Overall Dutch Masters MX1 in Lichtenvoorde:
1 Jeffrey Herlings 50 Pnt
2 Max Nagl 44 Pnt
3 Gautier Paulin 40 Pnt

Thomas Kjer Olsen of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing clinched the Dutch Masters title at the series finale at the Zwarte Cross in Lichtenvoorde.
Thomas Kjer Olsen Clinches Dutch Masters of Motocross Title
Olsen won the first heat convincingly and finished second in the final race, which left him with enough of a margin to win the title. Teammate Thomas Covington was third in the day and also in the championship.
Both riders had a string start to their weekend by qualifying first and second respectively. Covington took the early lead and won the qualifying race, and Olsen built up his race but could not get to the lead.

Olsen knew that he had to get good starts to fight off a championship challenge. In the first race, he started second and immediately challenged for the lead. After some initial challenges from championship rival Brian Bogers, he broke free and took the win. Thomas Covington had to battle forward from a lesser start, and succeeded in getting to third.
Covington did not repeat his mistake and set off like a rabbit in race two. He lead for a few laps, but crashed and dropped to fourth. He recovered to third for his full house of thirds. Olsen had the championship uppermost in his mind and wanted to avoid any mistakes. He drove a controlled race to second, then chased down the leader. In the end he had to be content with second, but the title was his.
The team will celebrate a title winning season, but not for too long. For next weekend they live up for the next round of the world championship series in Loket, Czech Republic.

Zwartecross looked so good this year. Always been interested in going but heard from some people that the racing is not so good and is just a side show. But if they are going to make having the last round of the Dutch champs there are an annual thing, I'm definitely going to have to make a trip

Great for TKO, and Herlings seems to be geting closer every weekend to his former form. Bring on the next GP..

Good for Herlings. Having the final race of the Dutch championship held during a big summer festival might be a brilliant move, the place looked absolultely packed.

Belgian FMX rider William van de Putte had a big crash over the weekend and is in bad shape.. Hope he's pulling through..
