Hey guys, just had the shock rebuilt on my 81 yz250 that I just restored, the shock has the race tech dual springs and gold valves, the spring is backed right off and it's still super hard, can't seem to get any sag, anyone else have this issue?

I think it has to do with not having linkage. I have a YZ465 set up by Racetech and I had really fast kid ride it without touching the set up. In fact he only rides it once a year At Day In The Dirt and has an Intermediate win, expert 3rd and off the podium due to mechanicals. Go ride it and adjust accordingly.

Ha...I had the EXACT same issue with the same shock mod done by Race Tech for my 1981 YZ250 !

This happened about 2 years ago so I'm kinda fuzzy on what caused it, but when I called Race Tech the guy I talked to had me check a few things and ultimately it came down to either the small spring or some other part like a spacer being installed backwards on the shock. Sorry, about being fuzzy on it but once I was told what to swap around it was an easy fix and it worked great after that. I thought for sure they had put the wrong springs on it but that wasn't the case.

Give RT a call and ask for someone who deals with this shock mod, I'm sure they'll get it resolved for you.
