What/who were your biggest surprises/disappointments of the 2017 Supercross season?
Surprises:
Hill - Not many picked him to win the title.
Osbourne - I figured he'd be good, but his improvement was major.
Jordon Smith - Did not expect him to compete for the title.
AC - I'm a big fan, but I didn't expect him to nearly pull off the title, or for him to win two races, to be honest. I thought it would just be a building year, but he showed he's still got amazing speed.
Dungey - Didn't think he could hold off Tomac. Yeah, I know Tomac pretty much threw it away, but Dungey is just always so solid.
Disappointments:
Webb - I know he was a rookie, but I think you'd have to consider being a borderline top ten guy for the majority of the races to be a disappointment.
Barcia - was pretty much just awful.
Forkner - I know it was his first year of supercross, but a lot of people were picking him to win the title and he didn't even get close to winning a race.
Canard - More injuries.

Im thinking Yamaha will be looking at Webb and thinking ' where is the real Cooper hiding' ... way under performed IMO, and while i am not a fan , i admired him going 450 at the Nations, and doing well , just expected more .
Barcia hit my expectations, was impressed with Baggett, i think he will be good outdoors.
I would have liked to see AC steal the East out from under everyone else, but Osborne deserved that.
Disappointed in Anderson's season. Things turned south after the incident with Vince. Strong finish though.

Milsaps has been surprisingly good for having lingering injuries.
The severity of Roczen's injury was both a surprise and disappointment.
Baggett- He has to be the most improved rider. He showed a lot of speed and looks really good on the 450. That team seems to have their bikes really dialed because Milsaps showed some of his old self as well.
Smith- Very fast as an amateur but has had a lot of injuries since turning pro. This season he showed what he was capable of. I was very bummed to see his crash yesterday. Will be a consistent contender if he can stay healthy.
Wilson- Glad he made it through this season healthy and got a ride at Rockstar Husky. I wasn't sure how he would fair due to his injuries he has sustained the past few years but he was solid.
McElrath- Has always been a very fast rider with flashes of really good speed. I did not expect him to be the guy to beat. It's unfortunate for his mechanical otherwise there was a really good chance he could have won this title.
Disappointments:
El Hombre- I was expecting him to challenge for the championship. After A2 he just didn't seem to have the pace to run up front. He definitely turned it around the past couple of rounds and he was amazing last night. I expect him to be a contender next year.
Seely- Just didn't seem like himself this year and got worse with the injury.
Pourcel- Not sure what happened but he is just not the same guy anymore.
Plessinger- I thought he was going to be the guy to beat in 250's this year but was very inconsistent and his starts were lacking big time. It was disappointing mainly because I'm sure he and everyone else had higher expectations.
JGR Suzuki- Injuries galore and Barcia is struggling big time.
Craig - what happened to him, way faster last year.
Savatgy - see Craig. Also, lots of errors to throw away that title. Even in the corner Osborne took him out he didn't stay to the inside.
Zacho - speechless at his season performance
AC92 - on the gas and has to be somewhat kicking himself in the ass. He had a few rides throughout the season that serious hurt him. I know it was a rebuilding season but damm, he ended a few points from the title.
Jordan Smith - have no idea what the fuck got into his head in Vegas. The rest of the seaon BRILLIANT
Disappointment:
Roczen's injury. He was on the fucking gas before his injury.
JoeS - had multiple races to put the title away and could not close.
Barcia - he's been rebuilding last three seasons due to injury. Serious question: has the pack left him?
Canard- WTF (its not the HONDA)
Positive surprises:
Grant - damn, he rode great late in the season. So happy for him. Very deserving of a quality ride and good $$.
Wilson - same thing, guy took a risk, worked his ass off, and was successful. Very deserving of the ride he EARNED.
Just to reiterate a disappointment:
Barcia - Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot?! That boy ain't right.
Surprises : Dungey only 3 wins (2 without MM)
Pit Row
Biggest surprise to me was how many wins Eli racked up. I know he's expected to but it wasn't going his way and he turned it around BIG time. As RJ would say that guy is a gamer.
Under the biggest surprise category I have to say. Meeting Robbie Reynard's sister and dad and getting to go into the press booth and all that stuff was AWESOME. Plus I got a sick as suite to watch the race. I could've never imaged that was going to happen. When you get a chance to be behind the scenes you get to meet the insanely nice and generous people who are the back bone of the sport and for that I was eternally grateful.
Grant I remember a Transworld preseason interview he did. Obviously I love the guy but I didn't see this kind of performance coming from him. Just so many injuries and downs from many previous years. He really rose to the occasion I could't be more proud as a fan.
And last but not least Vegas. It's been a minute since we've had a Vegas that was that exciting AND it was both in the 250 and 450 class. It has to be up there as one of the most memorable events in SX history.
All in all a great season. I think back to the moment Roczen went down and many people make posts to the tune of "oh well can't wait for outdoors". To be honest if you were one of those people could you do us all a favor and just keep it to yourself. I don't mind that's how your mind works that's your life but keep it to yourself. The fact that you feel that you need to post that garbage really reflects badly on your character.

Last night's main was such a GIGANTIC disappointment.
This is a gentleman's sport. To see ELIte stoop so low made me SICK
I turned off the race about half-way through because it sucked so much. How was I supposed to explain that bullshit to my kids????
BTW, since it is hard to tell the intentions of forum posts, mine is not in a derogatory manner whatsoever. Just discussion.
Kenny getting hurt.
450
Milllsaps - At this point in his career and with his injuries I didn't expect such a solid season.
Bagget - I had the feeling he would have a good season but his speed surprised me.
250
Smith - I didn't see him as a championship contender AT ALL.
Disappointments:
450
Skinny Pete - I thought he was going to have more wins and podiums.
Webb - Even as a rookie and on that bike, I expected more.
Bogle - Not a single good race.
250
Craig - WTF?
Forkner - 0 wins
450: Tomac, i never thought that he would win 9 races in one SX season. Baggett, solid season with some really good results. Deano. Going into A1 with his dad as a mechanic in a van and getting rewarded for it with a factory Husqvarna deal. Tickle before he got hurt(1 podium) should be mentioned! JMarts Daytona ride, really impressive. Other than that, there hasn't been that many riders that stood out in the 450 class and did more than i expected.
250: Jordon Smith finally showed us all what he is capable of. McElrath could have been 250 champion without the bike malfunction. Osborne taking the biggest and the most difficult step. It's "easy" to go from a top 10 rider to a top 3-5 rider but to take the final step to dominate the other competitors is the most difficult one to take and he did it.
Disappointments
450: Reed, just not good enough. Yes he is old but the talent doesn't go away, we saw that in Glendale where he was the real Chad Reed but one race of 17 isn't good enough. Anderson, yes he won Vegas but this has been a lackluster season for him. Only 3 wins for Dungey(this could also be a surprise/positive considering that he still won the title). Bogle, horrible season for him. Barcia, he is in trouble.
250: Craig and JMart. That was not good for either of the Geico riders. I think the team made a mistake when they went with JMart on the west coast and Craig on the east coast. But both should have been way, way better. Savatgy, fast enough and he did put himself in good positions with good starts but he threw away the title with weird mistakes and a mental meltdown at Vegas. We could add Bowers to this list too. Came into the season hyping himself up on the PulpMX show and in reality was barely a top 10 guy.
