I'm guessing Marty's neighbors think he's lying when he says he was a top MXer. Jammer and RJ look very much the same, not the rest.

Marty Tripes was a threat on any given day. One of my favorite photos is of him going up this rough uphill one handed shooting the peace sign. Oh yeah, I keep expecting to see some vintage MXR effects pedals every time I see this thread.

I had a chance to meet Marty several years ago at a Carlsbad vintage national, great guy and very likeable, he and another friend of mine from Ga who was also there and approximated Marty's stature were lounging under a easy up in the 99 degree weather and I walk up with my 155 lbs soakin wet self and make some disparaging remark about a beached whale alert and they both threatened to kick my skinny ass if they could get up >>>lol..its all in fun and I dont mean to put down a great rider and person. Mea Culpa..
