What type of settings do you use and where/how do you focus to keep all frames crisp? I'm assuming you set up the camera/tripod to get the whole jump in frame and just fire away without following the rider at all.
Peter Foley shot it if I'm not mistaken.
If you do have a tripod try 1000th shutter, manual exp mode (do a couple test frames to check before the big jump) manual focus on the middle of the jump area, DO NOT AUTO FOCUS! use a wired release to fire the camera and start shooting right before the rider hits the take off and keep shooting a couple frames after he lands. Try setting your motordrive to 5 or 6 fps.
I bought at least three of those posters when Fox was selling them, and still have two NOS never removed from the tubes. Can't find a digital image on the net.
It would for sure be easier to do the PP now, particularly if you shot from a tripod, with CS4. I can't remember the key stroke, but I think if you drag an image on top of another as you if you were manually doing HDR, and hold the right key, it locks the images into alignment.
autostitch.net or some pay software based on their engine. Of course you still have to doctor it up a bit in PS. I use it to make panoramas or the fake multiple exposures.
It's really just a pano with a moving object in the frame!!!
The picture above, I just followed the rider while holding down the shutter = 6 shots. Make sure each frame overlaps each other just like a pano.
