Well, in Lumpy's defense, the packaging is the only thing that says Made in USA on it.

In someone else's defense, the guys chiming in on this aren't from the other company owner's website.

They're from an older site and I can't defend the guy who owns that one. Whistling

This looks like the same stuff: http://highquahose.en.made-in-china.com/product/LXkxeEQDglWZ/China-Stra…

$12 for 100 pieces so it's not hard to see how packaging/branding/hose clamps could take up the bulk of the cost.

Anyway, I don't know where or how he's sourcing his hose but that website must be made in china! Sick

For the record: I'd probably still buy it(if I had anything water-cooled).

That's just down the street. Lots of cows, rice, grass farms, maybe some crawfish, A&M ag., refineries, industrial....no silicone hose though.

The story I heard a little over 10 years ago was that the reason why Harley switched to Dunlop tires was because without the made in America tires, they were at risk of losing their ability to say their bikes were made in the USA due to the high amount of imported components.

I did and still do trust the source. He has an immense amount of knowledge about the industry and what parts actually wind up in which products and where they're from. Having ordered them directly from the manufacturers through a consolidated buying group of performance parts distributors for decades.

I like all of those things. I got enough of the real China on my layover in Beijing. 8 hours in an authoritarian air conditioner, all the stores had closed by then too. No bueno.

So, all this crap being said. I fucking love China. If it weren't for China, we would not be able to afford half the shit we buy on a daily basis. Those bastards over there work their asses off for little pay to make sure that we can afford the crap we want.

Can you imagine the price of a moto hose kit if it were really made in USA? Hell a kit for a 2005 YZ450 costs like $90! If it were made in USA it would probably be double at least.

So make that shit in China, just don't pretend it is made in USA by using loopholes and exaggerated pricing structures.

Interesting stuff. American cars are built from a large percentage of foreign parts, but assembled in USA. So, made in USA. I think even the Toyota Camry is "more American" than the F150 pick-em-up truck assembled in KC.

One of my favorites was a GO USA rubber arm band for sale at a Target check-out lane. On the underside of the GO USA band it says clearly, made in China. Global economy at it's best.

Back around 1994 the made in Mexico /assembled in Canada Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis lost their domestic status while the made in Ohio Honda Accord gained domestic status. Funny how all the Japanese, Korean and European mfgs. can come here and build factories and vehicles yet all the American car makers have to leave the country to make a dollar.

Seems to be working out well for GM in Berkeley...um, I mean Venezuela...

Would've been classic if it said "Buy American"

I clip stuff in threads all the time. Particularly dumb stuff. Or political stuff. Or religious stuff. Or dumb, political, religious stuff. (Yes, some of you get that creative.) Wink

I have no idea where the hoses are actually made but I do know that if it were my business, I'd be swift in providing indisputable proof showing that my "Made in the USA" claims are unequivocally true.

Well they do claim that the hoses themselves are made in the USA on the site. Says nothing about kits, clamps or packaging. It says the hoses are made in USA.

I would have imagined a molding type process where liquid silicon was injected into a mold or something.

Still not real clear how the overlap/seam is taken care of.

Whas that? It says "Moto Hose is proud to be the ONLY Made In USA Colored Hose Manufacturer in the motorcycle industry"

You saying that this does not say the hoses are made in USA?

Yes. It does not specifically say that.

Just as fuzzy as everything else posted elsewhere in the thread re. 'Made in USA' does not necessarily mean that for reals.

Not saying they are or aren't - I have no idea about that - just that that doesn't say with certainty. IMO.
