How about the time McGrath pulled off in a SX race because he was having a bad race and his pride wouldn't let him ride around at the back of the pack. That wasn't heartbreaking THAT night, but I guarantee you he got that shitty feeling in his chest later that year when he lost a close title to Emig!

Yes Jamal.....good point! People lost before their time......Jim West and Gaylon Mosier can be added to that list.

Well injuries and deaths aside..
I thought it was really shitty in 2010, I can't remember exactly but it was definitely last round, I'm pretty sure Pourcell was out front and Canard was buried (maybe that's not accurate) and all Pourcell had to do was finish and he'd have won the title but he had a shitty little crash and broke his collar bone or dislocated his shoulder, which would've been bad enough but it was the second time in as many years he'd gotten painfully close..
This happening was one the stranger and funnier moments though haha

Yep that was a heartbreak. I was reading the round recaps month by month in ADB mag (before live streaming) I was going for him like he was a true blue aussie, reading about him leading and then losing like that.

84, cant remember the guys name, but he had a 3 race lead in the 125 GPs and got speared in practice and broke his leg.

RJ vs Hansen 82 RJ

Glover vs Ward 85, Glover broke his hand the week of the last race leading the points.

Langston breaking his wheel.

Pourcel falling in the last race.

Don't remember the track. Colorado maybe? Mike Alessi when he crashed on that blind jump and got run over numerous times. That was really ugly and hard to watch.

My bad. Those were two separate races. I'm not even sure if the race he lost his chain was part of the series Kenworthys got rained out - don't think it was

Thay was sooo shitty. He was fi ally going to get that elusive 450 world title and got hurt. I think he had over a 100 point lead too. Kinda reminds me of max nagl who i thought was going to win the 2015 mxgp world title only to get hurt at his home gp. IMO the biggest heartbreak would be in '01 when langstons rear wheel broke, that title was his. He did get redemption though.

Michael Byrne breaking his arm at Unadilla while having the ride of his life.
I thought it was his leg, but carry on.
