La Nacion story says he came in breathing on his own but is/was completely unconscious. They drained blood from the head injury but decline to say anything about long term

Crap. I don't know this kid, is he Ezras brother? Didn't Ezra had a brother that got a spinal injury, but was able to recover and started med school?

Horrible news. I hope this is not as bad as it sounds.

He is in the care of the best doctors here in San Jose and is also in need of all of our prayers, as he is in ICU right now. Lets all please respect his Family and not speculate (i'm not pointing at this site, other people are making rumors). Everyone please be positive and lets come together to be strong for him.

Ezra's brother is Shane, I don't think Jeremy is of relation.

Thanks for posting and lets all hope the crash looked way worse than what it is.

Just spoke with his sister:
**Update what we have heard so far as of 8am PST 2/8/09:
-He made it through the surgery which was great because they only gave a 5% chance of that.
-They had to drain a hematoma from the skull.
-He has an enlarged brain so they could not close his skull back up, they have to wait for swelling to go down.
-The next 24 hours is critical, so please keep praying! He did get a fever but they are controlling that.
-The promoter has been great getting stuff organized for the family. Lauren and his dad will have a phone line to update people from the hospital.
-It has been about 7 hours since the surgery. Some family is there already whole others are trying to get emergency passports. Please pray for favor in that situation as well.
-They don't know full extent of other injuries yet as they are most concerned with getting swelling down in his brain.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Jeremy is a tough kid and will fight hard.

Thanks for the update, Battlez. It's good to hear he made it through the surgery.

Yes, the next day or two will be critical. They will need to keep tabs on the swelling and pressure on his brain, and hopefully that pressure will start to improve. They will also be trying to keep the fever in check. They may have done further x-rays, but ABCs and the head are the priorities at this point. Breathing on his own is a good thing. Probably not stable enough for MRI to evaluate possible spinal problems yet at this point, and usually it is preferred that the person is awake before the spine can be "cleared" or fully evaluated.

Keep us updated, and our thoughts are with him and the family.

For the non reliigous.. maybe you can take some comfort in the fact that, depsite what some people have said here, the doctors in CR are very well trained and are on par with any doctor he would have in the US. It is due to their hard work and training that he is even alive today so everybody please give credit to them.. Prayers/etc are a great way for some to get through it but please do not take away from those on the ground working hard to save his life..

Keep the BS out of here!! This is serious and as a community, we need to be supportive of such a serious crash and injury. Not to mention it is in another country away from the people that can help him the most, his family!!

Thoughts and prayers are with the Lusk family
