KX/YZ/RM/TC/SX 85 or CRF150R. Get an actual "race bike" if you're serious about going racing.
You've got some local tracks and PLENTY of places to go trail riding in the Dez.
Many Sunday races offer "Services" for those that're missing church.

I actually had a parent tell me I was rough on my kids. because they had chores and we make them study and go outside when its hotSilly
at 15,when I asked for one. my old man said "best place to find a helping hand. is at the end of your own arm."
lots of mowing and busing tables. a beat to crap 85cr125. awesome feeling when it has your sweat on it. you will find a way if you want it. good luck.

The best way to get your parents to let you get a dirtbike is to convince your dad he needs one.

Otherwise, +1 on earning it.

In the trails and deserts in the surrounding areas, get some seat time on a klx140/crf150F/ttr125. It's close to home so maybe you folks won't have to drive too far. After a bit, maybe do some practice days.

After 2 years, you won't want to ride a play bike anymore and will be ready to move up to a real/race bike and will have enough experience to be safe(r) to race.

Tell your dad you'd love to spend more time with him. Bring up the possibility of the both of you getting good starter bikes such as a klx125 for you. Make sure he knows you're willing to work for your bike. Hopefully he bites and you two can spend some good quality time together. Nothing beats ripping the trails with your old man.

Not sure about tracks in your area just thought I'd point that out.

As far as when races are and where, that info is typically found online through the track's site. Sign ups, times, dates, all of that should be on the track's website and it will probably not be extremely cheap to race a local series! Again just part of it.

Make sure they're aware bikes cost a lot of money, to maintain them costs a lot of money, to travel, to ride, to race, it just costs a lot of money. I think it's the most expensive sport under car racing. Most people get their bike from the dealership, some choose Craigslist. I'd expect to get a bike to ride for fun occasionally until you're old enough to ride how/when you want.
Not riding/racing on Sunday totally blows my mind because that goes against our tradition 100%, but there's no need to get into religion here.

I wish you luck in getting started little dude, your parents can come on here and ask questions, too.

Work for and save up an amount o money that kind of shocked them. They will see a lot of responsibility.

I have no idea what that has to twisting the grip off a dirt bike, but I'm a parent and those are the rules.

If you get a bike, learn to ride in the desert. Find out who in your school rides trail/desert rides and make friends with them. You don't need to be that pure beginner on the track with experts blowing by you. That sounds like a good way to get yourself and someone else hurt. Once you learn how to ride and learn the ins and outs of your bike, your parents will be used to you riding dirt bikes and then you can start working them about moto.
