This^^^^^^. Do most people just comment without even reading a thread? Weird. And I didn't at all take JA's comments as complaining about anything other than the riders not having a voice in things.

last year we had 1.05 lap times which will give us 21min of racing over a 20 lap race. so it may be more or less the same at the end of the day.

Man you guys are harsh on Ando, I dont even like the guy and I understand where he is coming from. Hes not complaining about it being 20 laps he was complaining about finding out the day before the race. No communication.

I'm sure the fact that its not Feld doing this race and the fact that 20 laps will probably make for a longer race is the reason for the change. No complaints here.

Also to the guy saying its a bad track, do you realize Ricky Carmichael helped design it? He said he didnt want to put too many difficult parts because the way the track breaks down will make it difficult enough, we dont need it to be dangerous.

I think it's gonna be a great race, and I can't wait to watch, unfortunately it will be from home.

Call JA a wasaambulance then. So what. He found out the day before the race. Had he found out Wednesday or Thursday does that change absolutely anything? No.

I had the same negative opinion until I experienced Daytona, you are 100% right Mark.

Daytona is something special.

Don't know if it will, but this decision could effect things like tank size. Daytona is a sand track which may increase fuel consumption per lap, then add to that an extra lap or two. Would be nice to know in advance in case a team determines they need a bigger tank. So riders could have time to test setups with that larger tank.
I'd bet these riders aren't too worried about the extra time/laps. But it's a kick in the balls to drop that info at the last minute. It shows no respect. And Tomac will lap deeper into the top ten!

I don't see them running out of gas even with the sand though. When metty and short ran out of gas at Southwick that year it was well over the 30 minute mark.

This doesn't surprise me after seeing how long the track is, it would have been interesting to see how many guys the leader would have lapped
They will still lap up to 10th place. There are not 20 riders on the planet that can stay on the same lap in supercross.

Ok leaders quali times are 1:10. At 20 laps it will be 23:20. 20 mins plus one would be 21:10-22:19 depending on when the leader comes through. So if it pretty rough and laps times drop will be maybe 2-3 min longer. So might be two laps more.

Avg lap time should end up around 1:15 if the track degrades...
Therefore: 20 X 1:15

24-26 minute main is my guess.

Jason there are greater problems in the world than you having to run 20 laps. Give me a break. These guys have no clue about reality.
Not to him at this time there aren't. I'm guessing His entire world right now revolves around getting physically and mentally prepared to something really hard and dangerous tonight. Racing supercross professionally is Jason's reality.

I'm guessing world hunger will have to take a back burner tonight for a holeshot, running up front, and getting as many points and making as much money as possible. These guys train for 20 minutes plus a lap, we might like to watch them get tired and struggle, but I'm guessing they know how dangerous it can get when trying to hold onto a 450 at race speed when their entire body is numb, and they are spent.
