Silverado Crew Cab vs Double Cab for Hauling Bike

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 crew cab with the 5.7 bed. Bike fits diagonally with tailgate closed and locked. Can fit fuel cans,toolbox,boots, stand etc. if you have kids make sure you test fit a car seat. I wanted a quad cab but a car seat would not fit. Glad I got the crew though you could just about put a fold out table and eat a TV dinner back there haha love the room.

I have a 2008 Crew Cab Silverado with the short bed. Definitely go with the crew...Once you have the space you won't want a smaller truck. If I had to do it all over again I'd go with the 6 foot bed. Rather than put the bike in sideways I just leave gate down. The back seats fold up and I put a ton of stuff back there, gear bag tool box etc...Make sure you get one with the 3.73 rear if you plan on towing anything...

You wanna see shake ,I saw some poor kid get that front end death wobble with a full size dodge on the thru way, eventually he slowed up and I passed him ,the kid was white as a ghost and I'm certain needed fresh undies.

Go for the longer bed. I have a 2016 Crew Cab Shortbed Silverado and wish they had one with the standard bed when I got mine. Other than that, I love it.

This was last weekend's load for the Big Buck.
Toolbox, ezup, 2 chairs, food cooler, drink cooler, stand, pit mat, riding gear tote, camping gear tote, fuel jug. Bed was full. Bike was on the hitch hauler.


Once you throw the bike in the bed on an angle, there isnt much room to put your gear.

Really comes down to personal preference but I just bought my 3rd Ram quadcab with 6.4' bed. You can still sit in the back comfortably which means (for me) I'll take the 6.4' bed space over a larger rear cab area. The quadcab/6.4 bed and crewcab 5.7' bed are both 140.5 wheelbase and over that (like if you go with a 8' bed) good luck fitting in any normal garage.

I have a 2005 F150 Crew Cab. I was worried about the shorter bed, but I needed the extra cab room for the kids. I have no problem with getting bikes and everything else in there. I can put my bike sideways and all my stuff and my daughters bike in and shut the tailgate.

Could not agree more on the non lift.(but I just clocked 50 so I guess it's just saying I'm getting old and weak)

09 WT trim lowered , rolling on 22's and this has been the most practical thing!.
Had a lifted truck before and what a pain, even just to access non moto stuff you would throw in the back.
I got wife and kid and yes extended cab are not the most comfortable (he is 6 y/o and getting rather tall)

Suicide doors on this Extended cab body style are the real annoying thing because it's just not practical and can be a pain on parking lots.

At the end of the day, it's your money and how you wan to use it.
I see some with small sedans/cheap trailer/hitch hauler,etc...
You'll make it work no matter the ride.

I sold a low miles 2012 truck (paid off) for this (could get it at good price) because it's covering my actual needs and allowed me to put the extra $$$ into savings.
My ego is still in good shape when I show up next to $45K fully loaded trucks.

Does not mean I would not drive one, just no longer willing to burn $$ into vehicles.
I bought an 05 Titan new for $25K OTD in 2005. Try to get a compact truck today for that price ...

I agree with the ego thing, that's why I've had my truck 14 years and backed out of buying one in '15. It's crazy how much they want for one of these things...that being said I did just get a promotion at work and the wife owes me after redoing the kitchen for her so really tempted to treat myself, you guys may have talked me into the crew cab. I have a dealer not to far from me, maybe will take it home and try the fit of my bike and garage.

Well, my chick can ride a 85 up it, and her sled. About 45 degrees. Slightly steeper than the beaver tail.

I have an f150 crew cab short bed (it was parked in the dealer lot next to the 6.5 for the same price, accidentally bought the wrong one)... I kick myself everytime load my bike. The extra foot would be so much nicer....

Double cabs make no sense. Get the crew cab. I wasn't looking for a big truck so I decided to go with the new 3.8 Canyon. I went with the crew cab long bed and I'm so happy I did. My bike fits diagonally with the gate closed.

That's not a long bed.
Long beds are 8 foot. Short beds 6-6.5. I dont know what they call the tiny beds.

You're right but it's the longest bed you can get on the crew cab models. The tiny beds are just a joke.
