Varlo Verona did those in 1990 for the CR250 which already had the larger plastic airbox. It fits 1990-1992.

I had it in 1990 on my VRP already where you usually still had the smaller airbox that was covered by the numberplates. But to be even more ahead i not only changed chassis but also the plastics and mounted those of the 250 to have a completely different CR 125 than my competition Wink

Here's the spacier looking '89-'90 VRP airbox with integrated airbox which already had the bigger volume of the plastic airbox offered in years to come. VRP was really ahead of the time.

OK you saying that cr 125 had a smaller airbox shuld i get a cr 250 airbox instead ? is the tube smaller too?

He's saying about the difference between the two body styles.

The factory 125's had the 250 subframe swap to utilise the larger airbox in 1990.

Correct-it's the design that changed. The CR 250 was always 1 year ahead so in '90 the 125 still had the "old" design with the smaller volume airbox while the 250 had already the bigger, grey plastic airbox.

That VRP airbox was already much bigger 1 year before Honda offered it's new design.

In the last 25 years i have seen many 125s with all kind of tuning (big bore as well) but in the end none matches the screaming mid-top of a Mugen. I still have to ride a '16 KTM 125 head to head against my AF with '90 Mugen but from what my friend tells me when he compares it to his 144cc AF i guess mine is still competitive Wink

AND those HPP engines are like tractors...durability is unreal! My '90 Mugen now has 950+ hours and is still on its original Nicasil !! The transmission of those engines is bulletproof as is the clutch and everything else.

While the new '16 KTMs have several issues already: after every couple of hours the exhausts break, there is issues with cracked lower cases and to top it off on most 125s the exhaust valves aren't working properly. They don't open/close freely so they stuck somewhere in the middle which makes for poor low-end or weak top-end...or both Wink

Mugen 1990 ( i actually prefer the '90 over the '91):

I like the Ti case bolts you used. Can you share where you got those? Alot of Ti bolts have heads that are too large looking

It's actually a kit i've been working on selling for a while. Got a few people interested so just waiting to get the stock together for all the bolts needed for the CR125 motors still.

If interested, drop me an email chuck_davies@hotmail.com they'll be a lot cheaper than anywhere else online i'm pretty sure!

Stick around for a while and contribute, let people get to know you, then try to sell it, or put it on eBay where people have more protection.
