Red Bull KTM Factory rider Jeffrey Herlings has mentioned in a video shot by motocrossplanet.nl at a presentation night in Holland, that he is going to Qatar just for some points and a good performance isn’t likely.

“I hit a small bump (in the track), and I went off. I was operated on Monday and it wasn’t how I planned it. I didn’t have much pain, then I went home to Holland, and got a photo taken of the hand, I thought I could ride the next day. I saw it was broken, and I went really early to get it fixed. If we go to Qatar its just to get some points and not so much on the position I finish, a good performance, that isn’t possible. I have to be realistic. I just need to get as many points as possible.”

Hope he sticks to that plan . It would suck to see him out for any length of time.

This guy's inability to avoid injury is amazing. Last year Desalle broke his arm/wrist shortly before Qatar, and he was never right for the entire season.

He wins championships with the injuries though which is astounding.

He will be fine as long as he is able to get around 10th in the first few rounds.

I was attacked on here for giving him no chance of winning the title this year. For this exact reason. We haven't even made it to round 1 and he's already hurt. He could ride hurt and win the mx2 title, no doubt about that. But spotting Febvre Gajser and Cairoli points the first few rounds? Forget about it. Props to him for still racing Qatar with a broken hand though

Damn i thought it was all good to go after the surgery. Hopefully he can race smart and stick to his plan. If he holeshots, i see him hanging it out, which would be exciting as long as he doesnt get hurt

Yes, it is astounding.

By the way, I went to Virginia Tech as well (communication), although I've worked in IT for a while now. I was once editor in chief of the Collegiate Times.

Gee you would think he would take a few rounds off to ensure the wrist is 100% before he rides ?

The lap time thing you see a lot and it doesn't always seem to transfer over to 450s. Take bagget for example when he won his 250 championship He was fastest guy at many races. It's just different on the 450. Whith that said I'm sure Jeffrey will be a title contender just wanted to debate the 250 450 lap time thing

Maybe he should drop down and race 17 year olds again this year.

I fear that rushing back from all these injuries is going to cut his career short of what it could've been.

That is possible. Lets hope that the 450 can calm him down a bit more.

Just a small remark to that. The first 'test' was on a mountainbike.

I really hope it heals quick and isn't too much of a hindrance, or excuse. We've all been waiting for this year to eventuate for some time.

You must have missed the part where I said "winning the title." I don't doubt he will win races I'm just saying he's not winning the championship this year
