To me it looks like Dungey is just not going to push it on a track that is gnarly and take the risk of going down and dropping a big chunck of points.
He will do what Dungey does, pick off the wins on the nights he feels 100% and take 2nds and 3rds on the nights when things are not perfect.
He will start top three every race, Tomac will start anywhere from top 3 - 15th at any given round. The rounds Tomac starts up front, it now looks like he will be hard to stop, but he won't run down Dungey every race like he did tonight, well I don't think he will, guess we won't know for sure for another 12 rounds.
Pit Row
Dungey has been known to not take risks... but the last two weeks he has gone ultra conservative on rhythm lanes. He has been passed by Reed etc. at Phoenix because of the triple quad that 5-6 guys were doing, and he couldn't hit that 3-3-3 after the start and multiple times doubled through it.
Same thing as tonight. 2 guys were hitting that rhythm, and Dungey wouldnt.
Maybe it'll change, but I see him being much more conservative that years past.
