So we all talked about the Australian tear off ban, my response was liberals don't know when to stop. They seem to start with good intentions, but then continue to take it to a level that's utterly ridiculous.

Give them an inch, they take 53 miles. Tear off ban will be here is the U.S. before you know it, I guarantee it. THIS is why you fight and resists this garbage.

Do you know why? For those of you environmental lovers, Mars is also showing signs of glacier retreat and global warming. Your screwed, you have nowhere to run.. So enjoy your life today.

Wait until The Rock wakes up in Hawaii and doesn't know whether to smack his motorcycle enthusiast button or his tree hugger pinko commie button.

Don't worry this post won't last long. The Liberals will delete it when they wake up.

I still haven't figured out why they don't just design a degradable tear-off. Then everyone could be happy, except the people who have to pay for them.

Maybe it's just something I need to do myself after all.......Huh

Your missing the premise. It's a false paradigm, it's not really about the tear offs. It's about people that dislike your way of life, and want to change it. You annoy them..

Environmentalism has nothing to do with the Environment.

If they banned plastic tear offs, they would go after the plastic garbage bags at the track next.. Then race gas.. Then charcoal burning campfires. It won't end.

People around here keep talking about Australia's tear off "ban" like it is some Draconion legislation by over-reaching government enviromental whackos or something.

There isn't even a tear off "ban". It is a racing rule by Motorcycling Australia for their competitions.

We're already used to the tear off ban here in Europe. It's been that way for a few years. I don't know why you're so mad. Maybe it will help the development of roll off goggles.

Roll offs have been around forever. I would like to see then make a square Goggle fit in the helmet.

Tear offs are SUCH a non-issue. Not sure why people aren't comprehending this, it's already turning into plastic bags. Go paddle down the river in your petroleum made Kayak, with your petroleum made tear offs, and your petroleum made everything else.

As it turns out a google search tells me they already made biodegradable tear offs back in 2011 and before. So I guess you're right. Silly me for thinking logically and expecting others to do so as well.

Where do the roll offs go after you use them?

Except that nobody banned anything. A sporting body decided on a rule for racing in their organization. The AMA doesn't allow short-sleeve shirts in their races. Does that mean that people dislike the short-sleeve way of life and are forcing sleeves upon everyone?

Never thought I'd hear the words liberals and tear-offs used in the same sentence.

Stop making sense God damn it. It's frowned upon here.

It's because that way the apparel companies can charge more for the extra fabric. It is all a corporate conspiracy propagated by the AMA.

A safety issue differs greatly than "feels good" issue that won't make a flys ass bit of difference.

Just like the Hollywood elites that preach welfare, and help starving communities. I never see them give their hard earned money away to fix the problem. They just think they look good in the public eye, or feel good talking about it.. They don't really give a shit, in fact, they probably profit from it.

Chest protectors are plastic, they need to go. They sit in a landfill forever.

How do you know their track owners weren't the catalyst?

You're frothing and tilting and windmills here: Hollywood elites? Welfare? Geez, man.

It's a friggin' race rule. If Australian Motorcycling members don't like the rules change, they can do what it takes to have it changed back. Or race in other organizations.

Tell me about your plastic IPhone or plastic keyboard your typing on. You throw those in the garbage?

Your missing the entire point of this argument. If people cared about the race track and wanted a green hillside, they track owner would abolish racing and sound issues all together.

Then the cows, birds, and earth worms would have peace. Have you ever heard the term "penny wise and dollar stupid?"

I'm not missing the point: you want to bitch about people you perceive as threatening. Except you picked a shit platform, a non-related issue, and want us to generally entertain your tantrum.

Let me make this more clear to you, after tear offs are banned.. ROLL OFFS are next. Then what?

Maybe you don't see where this is going.

The EPA? Geez, man. I totally sympathize with some of your stances, but you are really flailing.

Ok. Give it time.. We will have this conversion again. Just wait and see where this ends up in 5 or 10 years, guaranteed.

Most garbage cans are plastic. Irony can be pretty ironic sometimes, I smell a new ban.

Please defer to my original post that the city I live in wants to BAN plastic garbage bags.

I understand where things are heading, but I also can spot a poorly-constructed slippery slope argument that misses the whole nature of the race organization being proactive and choosing whatever-the-hell policy, purely feel-good or not (but I do suspect it has just as much to do with what tracks/promoters want), versus rabid writhing that something is being forced upon them by, apparently, Hollywood elites(?).

Dirty, that's my point. The slippery slope is banning tear offs.
Just a rant, for those of you that don't understand.. Every area that we had has been taken away for the use of mountain Bikers and hikers. Duluth had several wonderful areas for riding that had disappeared and now another result we have a city wide ban that NO ATVs are even allowed in city limits. Not even on private property.. I watched how this all escalated.

Perhaps I'm over sensitive to this, reading some of the comments. Just try to see my side, a little.

I also remember when all two strokes were going to be banned in 2006! The EPA, you know..... I can't wait to see what unholy hell gets unleashed in this 5-10 year period you are predicting. I will be very regretful that your wisdom was not heeded I'm sure, but it should feel good to be so vindicated.
