Galfer 270 kit

Okay guys I'm either having a major brain fart or I revived the wrong kit. I can't figure out how to get my caliper onto the bracket for the Galfer 270mm wave rotor kit for my 2011 YZ250. I'm a pretty good mechanic and haven't really had any trouble workin on bikes or quads before but this has me stumped. Here's what I'm working with.

Lol first take the new bracket off the fork

then take the old bracket off the caliper

then put the new bracket onto the caliper

then put the assembled caliper/bracket onto the fork

Silly

The new bracket (black) replaces the stock one that is already on the caliper.

They seem to be seated all the way down. But as you can see on the rotor something is rubbing

Yea I can see the marking, doesnt seem to match up with anything other than where the brake pads are. Any dirt/debris in the pads themselves?

hey that looks like it will stop better nowSilly I had a moment like that the other day.. couldn't find a way to thread something to this regulator I was replacing. after 5 minutes of brain fade, some old man walked up and said."its already threaded on the inside" lol. bad part is I have done those before.few and far between but stillDizzy

are those new pads too? I believe in your instructions(another mans opinion) it will say how to break in/seat your new rotor and pads if so. I did both at the same time and it had a slight rub noise until I broke them in . youll love that front brake. made a big difference on my bike.

Great rotor. I have the same one! I also made the same mistake that you were making at first. I think you are good now just make sure and follow the instructions when breaking it in. Make sure you use new pads and make sure you clean the rotor ahead of time with brake cleaner.

I reused the stock pads. They still have a lot of life left but I can always replace them. There cheap enough. Which pass would you guys recommend? I've always used ebc on my Banshee and have had good luck with them

Reusing the stock (used) pads is most likely why you have that weird rub pattern. Those pads are worn to a dished profile from the previous rotor. Put some new pads on pronto, before your new rotor looks like the old one. Also, don't even bother with the pads in the Galfer kit...they're organic and they'll wear out super quick...then you'll have a nasty surprise when you can't stop. I use sintered metal pads exclusively...good wear life, and stop you in any conditions. One thing though, they will wear your rotor more quickly than organic pads. I prefer EBC or Braking...both have served me well through 3 years of GNCC competition
