I have a rmz 450 2016
Does any one find the rear shock to be well hard
And front suspension crap
I've set my sag to 104
I've tried front pressures 171 0 171
And 156 0 156
Find front suspension to be hard no matter wat setting and rear to be hard
Just wondering if people have this problem

the first ride out on my dads 17 sucked. The shock was way too stiff and the forks were way to soft. Granted, we didn't set them before we went riding, but it handled like shit. He didn't care for the suspension until he had it done by enzo. He rode this past Saturday and says its a million times better. He had the same issue with his 15.

The forks probably had barely any air in them. The dealer I bought my previous bike from didn't even know that the bike had air forks. Can't blame that on the bike.

did you get the heavier rear spring yet . If you did nt this is the reason the Rear shock is hard . plus at your weight you can t set the sag to 104 without a heavier spring. your static sag will be in the under 30 mm ,you need 40 mm static on rmz 450 .

I remember posting in your last help thread.

First off, have you tried a higher spring rate yet? To achieve 104mm of sag with the stock spring at your weight, the shock spring will have too much preload on it and not work as intended. This starts off by ruining the overall bike balance as the shock tries to work in conjunction with the forks and will make it much harder to achieve the feeling you need up front.

Also, did you try any air pressure in the outer chamber as I suggested in the last thread?

Clickers aint going to fix it I'm afraid, A revalve is the best option, the xring in the shock has a lot of stiction, the valving is ok but can be better, the forks are a mile off and can be valved really good by the right tuner. Just bite the bullet and get it done.

he should buy the correct spring for his weight first . but i do agree with the x ring , its an easy and cheap fix with a ktm piston in it . the valving ,is on the heavy side ,which could suit him . untill he buys a spring ,and trys it then ,he is at nothing

They had about 150psi. Which is better than what's in my buddies 17. From the shop came with maybe 100 Woohoo We did set my dads pressure to 170 like we ran on his 15, the next time we rode. It was better but still not right. So he sent it to Enzo and they worked their magic.

Just curious, is the red spring stock or heavier?

You need to know what the spring rate is AND you need to know the correct spring rate for your weight. I believe Race Tech has a chart avail on the web.

Also, after riding the '17, I get the feeling that the "Balance" between ALL -3- chambers is critical.

For your weight, you need between a 6.1 and 6.3 rear shock spring (imo). Once you have the spring, I'd start here with the forks:
Inner: 178
Outer: 12
Balance: 185
Comp: 10
Rebound: 14
Fork height: somewhere between 3 & 5mm

Shock:
Go back to stock settings.
Sag: 105mm

Once again, you'll be chasing your tail until you get the proper shock spring. Air pressure is spring rate so you can get the forks in the right area but the shock won't be, causing imbalance with the bike.

Also, this is of corse all my opinion. If you have a local suspension guy you plan on working with, call him for recommended spring rates.
