Grant to Fly Racing

IMHO, Josh Grant will look good no matter what gear he's wearing. Cool

Comfortable, supportive, well built....couldn't be happier I made the switch.

And although I may not be the biggest fan of the colorways fly pumps out, there is no denying they are pumping money into the sport and are fully invested into moto....gotta respect them for that alone. And honestly I think JG' set up looks killer, big fan of the flow/toxic green colorway

Because I like you.... Cool

I don't think any boot would hold up to casing a jump with one foot off the peg and the other on his toes.

Yeah that would have happened probably with any boot but in my experience the Fox instincts are the least supportive for the ankles of any highend boots that i have used. And they got really soft after a couple of months of riding, a slight overjump and i had to be ready for the impact because they were so soft.

But at the same time they are the most comfortable boots that i have had. But protection is more important in my opinion.

Back on the subject of Josh signing with Fly....
There's a whole lot more to the story, than just switching brands....

It has something to do with a company that Josh has an interest in.
A person that use to work there, but no longer does, might or might not have a family member that works for the company that Josh used to ride for.

So an ex-employee of HTLN has a cousin at Shift?

And what? Handed over designs? What the hell could they have done?

I probably should stop while I'm ahead, but I will say there was some betrayal and some shady shit that happened. Josh has been through enough BS, he didn't need to go down that road again....

I'm not the only one that knows the story, but I'm going to let someone else fill in the blanks.

Considering Fox is owned by Altamont now, they probably saw a conflict of interest with HLTN. They just dumped their whole surf program too so I'm sure there will be more changes with the brand. I've heard that shift has been on the verge of getting chopped for years now....

So, are you saying that FLY doesn't pay Grant, Canard, Peick, Badgett and other guys to wear their gear?

Of course we do, that's how these guys make a living racing motorcycles. But, they also have choices when it comes to who they get their checks from. It doesn't always work out, of course, and riders will come and go. That's the ebb and flow of this sport but from our perspective, if we can make a rider FLY for life, we always take that opportunity.

Above all else and true to the title of this thread, I know we are all very excited to begin a relationship with Josh. He has always been one of the most stylish riders on the planet and we are lucky to be a part of his team.

This has developed into quite the thread. Shift vs Fly, JT$ versus the overly-curious Davis and now some new insider controversy started by langham. What happens next? Stay tuned!

Josh has a lot of heart...as do the guys you mentioned that race under the FLY banner of sponsorship. There is no doubt at all that you guys are all-moto and are supportive of the sport from the amateur ranks all the way through the pros. Hope your brand is around a long time.

And, MX Guy...I don't think my questions are being "overly-curious" at all. If Jason thought I was being that, he could have politely told me to STFU. He responded in a mature, professional manner. Thanks, JT$! Smile

I for one am very curious as to what went on with HLTN/Shift, if there indeed was something.

Anyone else catch this in Grant's lastest TWMX interview: "It was a little sticky situation with how things ended with Shift, but you know some things you just can’t control and moving forward," Wonder what that's all about...

@TWMX: One big off-season change for you is gear is your FLY Racing gear sponsor, talk about that a little bit!

"Yeah, I linked up with the Western Power Sports crew, Max over there at FLY. It was a little sticky situation with how things ended with Shift, but you know some things you just can’t control and moving forward I’m happy to be with a company like FLY that has a huge presence in moto. Not only that, the guys are all just really cool to be around. So I’m looking forward to the partnership they put together with me and hopefully we can put some good finishes together and make it visible!"

The best part is a talented athlete was signed to a brand that is competitive in the racewear market. Glad we do not have a monopoly on the MX apparel scene. There is a brand/style for everyone.

Oh btw, how much do gear brands pay for the 450 riders? (As the lites riders gears are mostly team bonded) how much would Grant get? And guys like Weimer (Seven), Bogle/Wilson/Tickle (answer), Reed (shift), Dungey/Roczen (fox), Musquin (thor), Barcia/Tomac (alpinestars). And for goggle/helmet/boots deals etc?

ive always wondered the same, anyone care to chime in ??
The year after Anderson won his 250 title, his camp was asking for 400k for a pant/jersey/glove deal.
