Sunoco Race Gas in KTM 150

Alright, here is a topic I'm sure no one is going to agree on but here goes. There is a race fuel shop close to me who sells Sunoco 110 for a pretty decent price. I'm thinking about running it in my bike for a couple of reasons. One is, it stays fresh longer so I can buy 5 gallons and don't have to worry about it going bad as quickly. I normally ride every other weekend so typically I dump the left over gas after a weekend into a car. Race gas I wouldn't have to do that. The manual doesn't call for that high of an octane so I want to make sure its safe in my bike. The guy from Sunoco said their 110 compares very closely to VP 2T (with out the oil). I would run 2T but its way more expensive and can't get it locally. Thoughts?

Also, I don't really want to mix it with pump gas FYI.

That's actually a good idea. I work near an airport and didn't even think about that. Is it leaded or unleaded? I assume the octane is around 100, which would be perfect.

Just out of curiosity, why no splitting with pump gas? I've ran the Sunuco 110 leaded split 50/50 with CA 91 octane for years...Always satisfied Cool

The guy I got my 16 125 from splits VP C12(108 octane) 50/50 with 91 pump. I'm going to run the same.

It's just another step and I don't want to have ethonal in my gas jug that'll go stale. I see mixed opinion about avgas 100LL but will continue looking into it..

If you ride so little that pump fuel is going stale on you....you don't ride enough, thus that $9/gallon fuel is really a waist of money.

I'd pop that head off and set that squish to about .045 and take advantage of that 110.

I ran that exact fuel straight in a big bore RM 295 with no issues at all. I know it's not apples to apples but I can say that it was 100% safe. You might notice a small decrease in power from pump gas but it should be much safer.

It's not that I ride so little that the gas is going stale. I ride normally every other weekend, sometimes two weekends in a row. I could reuse leftover pump gas after taking a weekend off, I just choose not to. I know Sunoco will last a long time if sealed properly so it just makes it so I'm not dumping gas into a car.

Have to pick one or the other up today so we can go ride this weekend. Cost not being a factor, for a 2017 KTM 150 (stock) which would everyone choose Sunoco 110 or avgas 100LL?

I found out the local SUNOCO race fuel dealer sells ethonal free 98 octane gas which is exactly what my manual calls for. Decision made! But really that's a gas a lot of people probably can't find...I just got lucky and don't have to mix race/pump gas to get in that ballpark.

If you are running stock compression, use the fuel that is as close to 93 as you can find. Any higher octane and you will just be loosing power..

I have a '16 150. I mix 110 with ethanol free 92 50/50. Runs great even in deep sandy conditions I've gotten no pinging.

A good rule to follow on fuels is: race gas > 100LL Av gas > ethanol pump gas. It's pretty hard to find pump gas without ethanol anymore. 100LL, if available to you, is a viable option and usually reasonably priced.
