By all accounts they will sell well based on ride reviews, shootouts and word-of-mouth like bikes normally do...

Yep some 16's still around, no different to any other brand

I'm sure they will sell well. I just don't foresee the situation being like the FE KTMs in previous years. By the time spring comes around, if you want a 2017 Honda, you should be able to get one. And yes, I'm sure there will be a number of 2016 and even 2015 bikes leftover. Hell, when it comes to Honda as a powersports brand, 2014 is the most recent model year for a couple of their motorcycles/atvs. I know this is a little bit off from the original subject matter, but interesting nonetheless.

now you are arguing that the 2017 450 Hondas should of been made available earlier, but as we ALL know that wasnt Hondas fault, so stop blaming them for circumstances out of their control. I am sure they would of wanted them available in the normal time frames as everyone else but that was out of their control....lets move on from that...

Every motorbike has a update cycle, whether it be minor (i.e. graphics) or total re-design/major updates, all other manufacturers do the same thing Honda does, not sure why you are singling them out for that. Do you want me to list other brands that dont update their models (i.e. just give them graphical updates) yes still produce them year after year?

lol no just rubbishing the posters claims .... everyone knows I am a Kawasaki, Suzuki and Honda fan...therefore I defend them a bit, people think I am biased towards Honda but thats because most of the anti bike threads/posts are about Honda

Go figure

Probably as simple as a blown starter relay fuse blown while they were changing out the battery for whatever. These guys have limited E start systems experience on the race bike and will learn the precautions and diagnosis moving forward. they aren't the perfect demi gods some of you all expect.
The fuse could of been a little too low in amperage also from the factory too and with Kenny's bike having a bunch more compression than stock and probably more than the GP guys with their different spec fuel, it's going to draw more current to turn over and probably something they are learning with development as they push the boundaries on this new model.
Some of you guys really do want the sky to fall so you can be right.

So the Ktm is 224 pounds without fuel but with oil etc. Does anybody know what the Honda will weigh with, and without the starter option? Or do we have to wait until somebody actually weighs one?

I thought they said 232 lbs, no fuel. So if my math is correct it is not 15lbs but 8lbs more. That is with a kick start. Probably another 8lbs with ES. KR raced with an ES last weekend and smoked everyone, kind of anyway. The KX, YZ and RM are even heavier. not sure where you are going with the weight issue?

My 14 CRF450R weighs 228.9 lbs...Yes that number is real. I've weighed my bike on three different scales with no gas And they all said the exact same weight. And that's mostly due to the 4.2 lb lighter weight of the titanium FMF single exhaust system. Plus a couple guards and theyre hardware I removed..
That's basically just a little over 5lbs heavier than the new KTM....not too bad.

Everyone who wants a lightweight 17 CRF will have some sort of single exhaust...or not...dosnt matter...the bikes gonna be fantastic either way...

This is correct. With the electric start the new Honda is 15lbs heavier than the KTM. Not a big issue as others have stated. The Suzuki and Kawi are even heavier and just as competitive.

Lol I'm not going anywhere. Somebody in a post earlier said it was 15lbs heavier and I didn't think that was possible. Of course it's a new bike with a new option so I guess anything is possible. With the figures you posted plus the starter option it would be 16lbs heavier. I would have thought it would be lighter.
But the people that compare Krocs bike and a stock bike are funny. I think we all know that the factory team bikes don't really have much in common with the bikes we buy. Of course he looked good on his because he is a bad ass, period.

actually in this case I can compare Krocs bike to a stocker, at least as far as weight. Think about it. As you stated it is 16lbs heavier than a stock KTM. No fricken way they shaved 16 lbs off his brand new bike. What do they have? some ti bolts, lighter battery, forks, exhaust, but still duels so not that much. So even if they saved 8 lbs its still 8lbs heavier than a stock KTM.

My point is KTM built a 224lbs bike, cool. Honda built a 232lbs bike, cool. Does the KTM have an advantage, sure. On the scale. Does it make you or me faster, no. Does a bike with sharp handling, suspension, engine make you or me faster, yes. So I will personally buy a bike that makes me faster. Not one because its lighter.

Uuuuuummmmm when you add the 8lbs for the starter like was posted earlier. I'm not sure if it is actually 8lbs that's just what people are guessing I think. So 232+8=240, 240-224=16 well that's about as high tec as I can get for you. Stockers not roczens bike.

Also bear in mind that is Honda claim 233, and you add weight for EC you can also take OFF weight when you remove the kickstart mechanism (if indeed you want to)...I do wonder what the difference might be tho

I certainly haven't blamed Honda for their later release date. But yes we can move on from that...

I completely understand what you mean as far as every manufacturer reproducing a model with only minor changes (graphics, tires, etc.) and calling it a new model year. I just personally found, while working at a multi line dealer, that it is tough for your everyday consumer to understand why their brand new TRX450r is a 2014. I'm not here to blame anyone or anything. I just think that although it may only be a minor change like graphics, it means something to the end consumer when they can get a "current" model year.

I'm a motorsports enthusiast through and through, not here to bring Honda, or any other manufacturer down.

yes I guess Manufacturers have a programme for their bikes, they cant update them every year unless their productions lines are smaller because of the much lower amount of models they produce ala KTM/HUsky/etc....however once they start producing newer additional models then you will see them going exactly the same way
