Point is....people hate on certain riders , and it aint always about skin color. I personally have never seen anyone boo James myself. He seems to be pretty well liked up here.
The loss of respect towards James these past couple years stems from some of the stuff he's done ( willingly and unwillingly ). He deserves all the respect in world for his past accomplishments , but over the past two years over all that's happened , it isn't just some fans that have lost some respect for the guy...it's people in the pits on certain teams , and other associations that have been left with the feeling of being a little " He burnt this bridge " type feeling. There are guys on this board that are in the pits every single weekend , and can attest to what I'm saying.
There comes a time when a rider needs to quit resting on his past accomplishments and start putting the work back in and earn his pay check. I think if James actually puts the effort in , we can still see a few really good races out of him. But then again , Maybe Jeff Ward was correct , and there is to much damage upstairs to move forward. We'll see.

Heck, I used to get into it all the times with his rabid fans and I was called all sorts of things. Now, I wish he'd come out and smoke the competition to shut some of these idiots up. You'd see the masses go from hating, to loving him again...if he puts together a few wins.
Pit Row
And it's always the same few people, obviously they get something out of it. Also, lack of respect is rampant now days, I blame poor parenting.
The internet has created a safe haven everyone.
This is very similar to Peyton Manning's last year in Denver. He played extremely awful. Fans who were once die hard Manning fans were calling for him to be replaced. And he was replaced temporarily. It's not because they disliked Manning the person. He is a great guy. But he was playing terrible. Yes, he is one of the greatest to play the game but that does not matter. It's about what have you done for me lately. That's the way life is. That does not mean those who wanted Manning replaced didn't like him as a person or did not appreciate his past accomplishments. Yes, he won a Superbowl, but he wanted to play another year and Elway said no way. He either had to retire or he was going to be cut. He already had a long career and chose the smart thing and that was to retire.
This is pretty much the same situation.
James the person, the father, the husband, is probably an awesome guy and a lot of fun to hang out with. He has amazing accomplishments. But James Stewart the rider currently is an excuse maker, does not show up ready and fit, gets paid to sit at home, interferes with racers when getting lapped, and on and on.
That's not the James Stewart we all have known over the years. He use to be a fierce competitor that could do anything on a bike. Those days are gone and there is nothing wrong with that. Father Time is undefeated after all.
I get tired of people saying that you can't criticize someone. It's not disrespectful when just stating the facts. Obviously some folks take it to another level but for the most part I just see people who are criticizing where it is warranted.
Stewart was amazing on a motorcycle. Key word here, "was". He is no longer that same rider even though he continues to be hyped like one, paid like one, media coverage like one, and still has a rabid amount of people who defend him. That just goes to show that he was a real force in the sport and one of the best to swing a leg over a motorcycle. I respect that and believe a lot of other people do as well. Even the ones who are critical of him.
Case closed.
This is all water under the bridge at this point. It is what it is.
I look forward to watching him if he races. If he decides to retire then I wish him all the best.
