84 Mugen Kit

My first post on here but I have been lurking for a while, looking at the quality restorations on here has got me hankering after an 80's or early 90's Honda to restore.

I recently picked up a Mugen kit for an 84 CR125. I dont have a bike to fit it to but what the hell, Mugen stuff is just so cool I might have to buy a bike to fit it to.







Its used but in excellent condition, plating is perfect and the ports have had some work done as well.

Yes it is and the chrome looks in very good condition.

I know where you are coming from newmann, while ago I bought a very trick HRC engine for an NSR250 (Honda 2 stroke road bike) on a whim and have spent the last couple of years buying enough HRC parts to build a bike around it!

Anyway I really have the urge to restore another motocross bike, I raced twinshock Hondas in the UK about 10 - 12 years ago.

I really wanted an 89 to 91 CR250 or 125 so I'm not sure whether I will use this kit yet, its so pretty I might just keep it to look at!

Like most motocrossers of a certain age I do have a soft spot for Mugen stuff, here's one I built a while ago.

That's cool as hell. I had an 84 CR 125 through high school, I loved that bike. Plan to buy another someday.

That 360 is tits! Thank you for the satin finish on the engine. Too many overlook that detail.

No, it's for dad's bike. It's sitting in the box here yet, dad lives 70 miles from me and we haven't gotten together yet. He had a vintage race last weekend and I had acl reconstruction last Friday. Been busy I guess. Planning to this weekend. Thanks again.

I'm guessing that mugen cylinder does not utilize the ATAC chamber? I remember my 84 CR 125 loosing hp anytime it started to get an exhaust leak where the pipe met the ATAC chamber. Granted it was probably an excessive leak looking back but remember sealing it regularly.

my friend has his 1984 Honda kitted with the Mugen cylinder and head. He is running the stock carburetor and isn't getting the most out of the trick cylinder. from your picture that intake port looks huge.

Glad you like the 360, built it in 2002. Raced it a couple of times but seized it and ended up going back to a 250 top end.

I presumed the Mugen kit uses the stock ATAC system, this pic of a complete kit doesnt have the atac valve.

Very cool find. I race vintage here in the states and won a championship or two on
My 84 CR 125. It is A nice bike but Slow. If you run across another 84 kit or even an 83 kit let me know. I am tired of losing hole shots to those Suzukis. I am coming to Farleigh this year. Will you be there?

Hi berniepiet dont know what the chances of finding another are, I was looking for a 90 or later Mugen kit when I found this.

Not sure if I'm definetely going to use it yet, if I dont I will give you a shout as I would like to see it go to someone who will use it for what it was intended.

Are you riding at Farleigh? I might go to spectate if I dont have anything on that weekend.

Well, it would make a pretty awesome build, that's for sure. Won't be riding this year. Shooting for next year.

Hi Guys, just a heads up to someone advertising this kit for sale on vintage bike ads using the name Bradly Hadary and claiming to be resident in the United State!

If he posts on here or anyone knows his true identity then let me know and I will withdraw the comments I have added to his post but I strongly suspect this guy is a scammer as he has used one of the pics from this post in his advertisement.

I no longer own the kit, I sold it to a guy in the UK who I believe still has it in his possession but haven't been able to contact him to confirm this so it is possible he could have sold it on. If this is the case (unlikely) it is still strange that this guy should use my picture taken from this post to advertise it. Also another poster on vintage bike ads has posted that the same Bradly Hadary sent him the same picture in response to an inquiry about some Mugen 360 stuff he also claimed to be selling.

I thought I would run him along a bit and insisted he send a PayPal invoice which after a load of bs eventually invoices me with a PayPal invoice under a different name with no address

No expert at all on Mugen stuff but thought I saw somewhere that some Mugen cylinders were used in Go Carts and 'specially ported' for Go Cart use?
When people then re-fitted them to bikes thay had issues getting them to run right and some never could get them running correctly.
Bummer really if you did buy a ex. Go Cart/ ported Mugen cylinder and it did not run right, as they are very expensive to buy and expect most people want to use them in bikes rather than carts.

Hi Paul, I tried to buy it from the gent you sold it to when I was at Farleigh. But I was unable to make the deal. He told me he would contact me when he got his personal issues sorted out, but I never heard from him. That was was back in 2014. If you hear from him, tell him I am still interested. Thanks. Hello guys what do you know about this kextrading guy ? I think he might be trying to scam me . I posted a add on vintage bike adds that I was looking for a 1983 Husqvarna cr500 just yesterday this kextrading responded that he has one he is selling . Any info would be great .
