My brother used to race in smp kit, it looked awesome, the jersey had flames up the sleeves and the pants were a shiny red and black nylon... Brings back some good memories.
We went riding last weekend and my Dad, who still rides at 72 stepped out of his van with an smp tee shirt on, I didn't say anything but I did think, hey an smp shirt that's pretty rad!!!!

Can someone tell me how SMP surf more pipes transitions into moto? I remember well how the free ride movement came along. Shit even dressed my son in the lime green LBZ lightning gear. Wasn't there also a race called surfercross or something along those lines? Moto guys surfed and surfer Dudes motoed?

Damn dude.......it's been sooooo long since I've seen the LBZ video. Now that one brings back a lot of memories.....some good, some bad. I used to ride with a lot of those guys back then, so many of the jumps in that video are so recognizable. It sucks how many guys from that video have died since then. Then you see guys like Tyler Evans, Rusty Holland, Mickey Dymond, Dan Jackson......etc.... Those really were the best times for me when it comes to riding and just the entire MX industry.

I've been present at certain places where some pretty big names where having "friendly conversations" with full on hookers......there were a lot of party drugs being shared back then, but now all of these "athletes" that rule MX had to ruin all of that cool shit.

Yeah, you're correct that SMP was originally related to surfing and skating. They also made snowboarding pants back then and a few of the freeride guys wore the SMP snowboard pants and long sleeve SMP t-shirts rather than the LBZ stuff. SMP then made some riding gear for a few of them, at first you couldn't even buy it, only a few guys wore it. Once LBZ blew up, SMP realized that it would be worth it to make mx freeride gear as well.
