And some are pretty damn scrawny. Look at AC, he was probably lucky to break 100lbs. Still probably not even 150 lol. Thing it that's a tuff age to go by weight, and weight doesn't dictate wether they can handle the bike or not

This was announced about... six months ago?

One part missing from your post, the 125s. This rule pushes young rider (12 and 13) from jumping straight onto 250Fs and get them to stick in Schoolboy/125 races.

I like it,
This will limit moto-dads moving young riders along too early..

Yea and they also pulled the slight of hand bullshit of saying they were increasing 2 stroke classes by adding a 125B/C class. Meanwhile getting rid of the Open 2 Stroke class, and removing 250 2 Strokes from the AMA definition of Schoolboy 2 letting ALL 250 cc machines in that class. Hence gaining 1 and losing 2.

MXSports always would not allow 250 2 stokes in the Schoolboy 2 class but the AMA class did. People complained that MXSports was not following AMA classes at an AMA race, me included, so they made the AMA changed their class to not allow them. Now you can only ride a 250 2 stroke in the A,B and C classes.

None of this was mentioned though in the press release of them adding a 2 stroke class and raising the age to ride a 450 which was part of the "add a 2 stroke class" announcement.

After dealing with electrical problems on my 450, and riding my sons 250 smoker, my next bike will be a 2 stroke.

I think its hard to write a rule that there will not be exceptions, my 15 yr old son is now 6'2", 160 lbs and can throw a 450 around like it aint nothing. He's rode a 250 2T since he was 13. He rode a service 500 last week and now wants more power on his 250, but for the masses I can agree somewhat with this rule.

However, this rule was written because people were getting hurt more often. the problem is, no one is getting hurt because they are 15 riding a 450, they are getting hurt because 250Fs are heavy and they are so much easier to point, twist and jump than a 250 2T which makes little Johnny think he can jump anything. Combine that with the REAL safety problem of shoddy track maintenance (almost every high publicized injury has been off of bad jump faces) and the weight of the bike landing on little Johnny and now you see why there are more injuries in MX

IF you were really wanted to write a rule for safety, and for safety only, then you would make it a rule that no one was allowed to ride a 250 CC machine of any stroke until they were 16. Now this would kill our racing if this was a rule, but I'm talking about the sport in general. Kids should have to ride a 125 and learn skills before they were allowed to bump up to the easier to go fast on, heavier machines that they can launch by a simple twist of a throttle.

But slight of hand works much better when people just watch TV, listen to the bullshit you feed them, and never check the real facts.

Hmmm doesn't make a lot of sense when the for a pro a 250 2 stroke = 450 4 stroke? So for young ams a 250 four stroke = 250 2 stroke but not for pros?? Blink

Probably nowhere near 150 lol. I remember a few years back seeing JS7 interviews about a comeback and he was at 143 pounds. I always thought he was a bit bigger, until I seen him in person

dumb rules. its the heavy powerful 4 strokes pile driving kids into the ground during crashes thats hurts people...not the damn age. bring back the 125 classes and importance.
