There is a lot to be said about this statement. If the riders are not interested, the results will show it.

With the talent pool we have here in the states we can still have the A-team if they get good starts and we have some luck on our side. But anything can and will happen. But those sneaky Euro's are good at closing the door on a good start for the Americans. That's racing though!

Thomas Kjer Olsen(the 2016 EMX250 champ) rode MX2 in Switzerland and finished 7th if i remember right. That shows how good the top EMX250 guys really are. Sanayei could actually be just as good, if not even better than Covington.
Why would anyone want to pick two guys that could maybe finish 5th at their very best? Savatgy or Forkner could take 1st-5th in the 250 class any given day. I think after Darien moves up and competes for a year in MX2 he will be a different story. But not right now. Darien would probably be 10-12 in AMA

Someone else said it, but I agree with:

MX1: Webb

MX2: A-Mart

MX3: Millsaps

The Shop

Why did someone say Barcia is out? Is that official? I can see taking Davi but who foots his bill?

If Dungey is racing the very next weekend I don't understand him not stepping up. Even not at 100% race pace he is the best we have. Same goes for Anderson but Dungey is a much better starter. I also believe Dungey would be fine fitness wise. Hell, if a notoriously unfit DM18 shows up in Canada and can last the motos you cannot convince me that Dungey would be that far off!!

Dungey, you are an American and your country needs you. We are asking you do go to war. Well, not literally..

So,
MX1: Dungey
MX2: Amart
MX3: Webb

A-Mart MX2
Webb Open
? MX1

The obious choice for MX1 would be Barcia since he has done the race multiple times and he has been good every time(even at Lommel) but there are rumors that wont be picked/can't do it. I wonder if Anderson or Dungey could be healthy enough to do the race.

Yes probably around 10th at a national. The difference is that he is actually somewhat used to the southern european hardpack tracks, that would be an advantage.

But there is absolutely no way that Sanayei or Covington is getting the ride, just fun to speculate Smile

Neither of those guys are fast enough , Covington is hot and cold, Sanayei is still learning.

I agree on the Forkner call! Very impressive for rookie season, gets good starts, stays on two wheels and runs up front most of the time. Decoster would be a hero with that move if they won.

And I know this guys hasn't been racing but supposedly "preparing for 450 SX" but what about Mookie for 450 or 250?? Just a thought.

Why would Mookie even be considered? He hasn't raced since SX and has never been all that impressive in MX. How many 250 outdoor podiums has he had? I don't think it's been much more than one or two but I can't recall. We have to send a guy who is in race shape and proven to be able to run with the best. It's dwindled down to Savatgy, Forkner AMart and Osborne. I believe Webb will compete on a 450.

Everyone says Short should do it is crazy. I love the guy and respect the hell out of him but there's no way he should be sent to compete. There is no doubt it's going to be Webb and either Barcia, Millsaps, Ando, Baggett or Canard (depending on the last 2's health). I wish Tickle was able to maintain his mid season success he was having then this may not be such an issue.

I'm hoping for Webb, AMart or Forkner and Baggett. If Baggett could get back up to his early year race speed we can win the overall.

I'm just going to say this one last time. Webb and A-Mart are already picked for the team. The last 450 guy is the mystery and the only thing people should speculate on.

Dungey
Webb
Seely (Anderson could be as competitive but maybe he needs more time to heal)

That would be the strongest team, but... not sure about either of these riders wanting to race/race this category.

If a rider that's picked refuses to compete he should be blacklisted from future consideration.

Screw it, let's let Big Rig Benny ride the Nations along with Webb and A Mart. At least we would know the effort and passion was there in that team.

^^^ THIS ^^^

Not sure there is so much speculation going on here.

Now... Will Dungey step up ? If not, who will be our 3rd rider ???

Is Amart in? Most of the time guys switching brands in the off season are out.
