Bought a beat to hell 250f with a seized motor because the kid ran it out of oil and did not do any maintenance to the bike. This bike is for display purposes only as it will be going in the basement next to my bar. Something I've always wanted to do and I got the bike for $800. My friends give me shit about having a bike for visual purposes only, but it is too nice to ride, ever.

Heck yeah! Build it up as a show piece. When you find a cheap motor, build that up, drop it in, and call it "phase 2".

Throw some rings in and slap it back together, should go for another 100 hours.

If it's just going to be a show piece for the basement, couldn't you just leave the cases and top end empty... too much money to never even start or ride it anyways. Just a thought.

I tore the bike down to see what happened to it. The finished product has no piston in it, which really pisses some people off:-). I really went back in forth about rebuilding completely but sitting in the basement the bike will have no fluids in it for safety and insurance reasons so I did not sink money into the motor.

I like the "Phase II" idea. Honestly, that'll make it a better bike so you aren't burned out or breaking the budget mid way through a rebuild.

Really sick idea btw. i am jealous. I have been tempted to just pull my actual race bike in haha.

Parts back from polishing and ready for Anodizing and below the horror of what S&S Anodizing in Denver did to my parts. Waited two months for the polish and anodizing to get done and to say I was pissed is an understatement. They were supposed to come out a light blue that Kawasaki has used in the past.

Can't expect cast aluminum to anodize like billit aluminum. If you want perfect blue clamps get a set of aftermarket billit clamps and anodize them blue

I was just mislead by the shop that's all. They showed me how they would turn out on a sample and obviously it came out like shit. But that's all fixed now.

Parts back from powder coating. I had the frame, wheels, sub-frame, swingarm, handle bars, sprocket, muffler cap and water pump cover done.

I had to get a different swingarm since the kid who had the bike let the chain run a hole in the old one.

The gas tank thing is dumb. Just empty it. When i was a kid i slept in a room with two bikes in it, full of fluids including gas, never once killed me.

Did you powder coat your frame and such in clear or did you actually PC it silver?

Had the same problem out here in California, its to do with oxidization, Honda clamps came out fine, nice and red, but the wheels came out brown, they couldn't get them red.

However that era Pro Circuit bikes didn't have any blue, they had the red/purple/maroon colored clamps and magnesium colored hubs.

I think stock hubs, casting flaws removed, polished to a dull finish look as factory as you can get.

One of the main reasons I went with the blue is because I was told the red and magnesium colors could not be achieved like I wanted. Lesson learned I guess. I have always liked the blue hubs and clamps though.
