I'm in the market for a used bike I have always wanted to try the rmz450. Is there any major issues with the bike? I hear good things about them but I also hear about tranny and mis shifts is any of this true? That's the only thing really drawing me back from one.

I had one that I logged about 120 hours on before I sold it.

It was a great bike and I never had a single problem out of it. Did a topend at 64 hours and it still looked great with tight tolerances. Never had any tranny issues and never had to adjust the valves.

It was just as reliable, if not more so, than any bike I've owned.

My 14' has about 42 hours and has been a good bike. Solid motor and great handling. You won't feel the weight once it's on the track.

3500. I found a 13 for that amount I was thinking honda but I've always wanted an rmz never had one before and herd good things about them.

13 rmz 450 is a way better bike than a 09 crf 450, no trainer.

I still have my 2013 with about 30 hours on it (I just ride occasionally now). Zero issues with the bike with regular maintenance. Also friends that have newer bikes have traded with me so I could ride the latest and greatest usually are surprised with how well the bike rides especially compared to their new bike. I’d still recommend one, just get the suspension set up right and enjoy unloading and riding off without having to mess with anything.

I have a 2012 RMZ450 which is a tad different then the 13+. Of course I have way too much money into mine and only 15-17 hours on it. So I can't attest to durability but you can be assured it will turn amazing!
They're great bikes ,reasonably priced.

I have a 15. Love it! No issues at all save for misshifts. BUT I do have limited ROM in my left ankle. I run conventional oil in the motor and that maDe shifting noticeably better!

I have a 14' as well that I got brand new last July from Malcolm Smith's. Suspension revalved front and back for 160lbs, and a Akrapovič slip on make it run buttery smooth.

try a different lenght shifter , i run a hammerhead one on my bike it helps with that problem alot .

Had a 2011 rmz450 and it miss shifted twice on me fist time broke my collarbone 5 ribs, second time broke my hip sold it after that bought a Yamaha and hasent miss shifted once on me

The 13s are solid bikes. The shifting issues were primarily on the years before that. Suzuki beefed up the tranny in 13 and also changed the shift forks to help prior issues on missed shifts. My 2012 would occasionally hit false neutrals if you rushed a shift, so I made it a practice to never shift on a jump face. It was most common going from 2nd to 3rd. As long as you upshifted before revving to the moon it was good.

With that being said, I never had shifting issues on my 14, which is the same bike as the 13 you are talking about. The only thing they changed from 13-14 was the graphics. I wouldn't shy away from a used 13 that's in good shape. I never had any issues with the yellow bikes nor have any of my buddies. Very solid, durable, great handling bikes with a surprisingly good motor. Main thing is to get the suspension sorted out and let her rip!

I found a good deal on a 2013 that's set up for my weight and low hours for 3500 Im going to pick it up tomorrow I can't wait to ride it.
