Those aren't the only no-go zones we're likely to see in the future.

That birth defect stuff is scary shit.

If a woman is infected today, does it affect her pregnancies forever or does it only affect the pregnancy she may be having at the time of infection?

If it's the former, something like that could drastically change the way we live on the planet!

That's a good question for the designers over at the CDC.

I'm not meaning to be clever, but I'm genuinely curious, what is the situation with medical coverage for a child born with a lifetime of medical need like this (and with likely no way of earning a living to pay for anything)?

Even if the medical side of things is covered there will be very little good news for a child born with microcephaly.

As for the original post, the report I saw from the World Health Organization implied that the majority of the United States would have this mosquito and disease permanently endemic before too long. Nothing any government can do about it.

We had an explosion of lone star ticks this year up north . If bitten and infected with the alpha gal virus ,you can never eat red meat for the rest of your life .

There are some safety nets for the truly disabled that allows for their basic needs to be met, but it's the VERY basic needs of course. I'm not really sure that families get assistance with care giving before the disabled reaches adulthood or not, I've thankfully never had a reason to actually inquire about it. I believe that before adulthood it depends on family income and means. After adulthood is reached, that changes to disability payments for living.

So down the street from my brothers there is about a six house lot sized "wetlands reserve". Its not a normal park and there are no normal parks for eight or ten blocks. It is an overgrown, mosquito-breeding swampland that, in light of all this, absolutely needs to be dried out and filled in. I'd like to see the oppositions reasons for not doing this already.

Hmmmm....

A place for ducks to shit...

or

Kids with tiny heads...

It's a toss-up.
