As soon as I get it I'm going to think of a thousand ways to pour money into it.

Suspension is key (in my personal opinion) so that'll be the first on the list. I'll ride it like it is for the rest of the season then send it out :3

There's nothing wrong with a used bike if you go through it and check everything. Obviously the engine is the a big one but for a 2 stroke, for example, you'd be crazy to not just rebuild it right off the bat.

The engine on 2 strokes is usually the least of my worries. Some people never go into the engine and if they do they usually know what they are doing. Everything else is my worry, improper air filter maintenance, stripped bolts and threads, worn chain guides that wear into the swing arm ( had it happen) never tightening spokes, bearings that have never been serviced. I won't buy used anymore unless I know the previous owner and how it was maintained. Btw pretty good price on that bike. In July of 2014 I got my 250sx for $6k from a dealer who needed it gone. This will be how I shop from now on, last years model taking up space and costing the dealer money haha

I don't appreciate Brand New that much, I'll stick with The Used, especially their first album...

Well the Yamaha would've costed me $7400 BEFORE taxes. The YZ250 is an awesome machine no doubt, but, its been the same bike since 05/06 with minor changes. I wanted a Husky or KTM and the Husky was my choice for the price. Plus the dealer is 20 minutes from me, any other dealer is 1 hour from me Cool

Few things in life are better used (women, baseball gloves, leather jackets, even that is subjective). A motorcycle is definitely not one of them. I buy used as i like to have more then one bike (i have 4). And you can buy what is known to be great cheap. I dont mind working on them though. Your "new bike". Will be used soon enough so think about that. If you have to take a loan. Dont do it. Save up and pay cash.

Stick with used. I've never had a bad experience buying a used bike. You have to look them over with a fine tooth comb though before you buy them. Listen to the engine run, check compression, shift through the gears, etc. I never buy a used bike off of some young kid b/c usually they don't know how to ride and end up beating the shit out of the bike (over revving it, etc.) I've had the best luck buying used bikes off of older guys that trail ride and respect their stuff. Unless you're loaded, buying a brand new bike is a horrible investment, the depreciation on dirtbikes is unreal. If you don't know what to look for when buying a used bike, find a buddy who does and bring him with you to look it over.

Nice! Looks great! I think my eyes were playing a trick on me. Im just so used to lawns being brown from heat and drought that Im not used to seeing a plush lawn like that in the middle of the summer.

Nice! New old stock can sure be the way to go. A second hand bike has to be quite cheap and in excellent condition for me..,
I'm just gonna have to wait and save, second hand yz 250 two stokes here have some ridiculous asking prices, people still looking for $6kand more for ones as old as 2014. Just saw a brand new 2016 at a dealer for $8.5k. You can always get a below cost deal on a new bike if you are patient. Dealers are under severe $$$ pressure frequently and have to move stock to gain some cash flow. I'm not really prepared to pay more than 3k for a used yz 250. I'm seeing pre 05 models ( prior to alloy frame ) with prices in excess of $3.5k. It's nuts! All prices I'm talking about are in Australian $ .

The bike has full synthetic Bel Ray premix in the tank and that's what Husky recommends at a 60:1 ratio. I wanna run Maxima Castor 927 at a lower ratio, can I do this? I know Maxima Super M is a semi synthetic blend, can I run that in the bike? At what ratio too?

Yes you can run it at a lower ratio like 40:1. You will likely need to rejet though regardless since the bike comes from the factory jetted poorly. It's pretty well known what the hot set up is, basically 40pj necj needle on 3rd clip and edit 165 to 172mj. Obviously u will need to play around with the jetting to suit your needs.

If you financing a MX bike that means no.. Delayed gratification is a wise and prosperous discipline if you can do it...... Pay cash for a used bike and enjoy. The resale on those things are horrible... Let someone else take the hit. Didn't read thread till the end... Enjoy!!! Bad ass machine
