PJ came out in the end of the 08 nationals I dont think he showed what alot of people thought he would.
But looks like SX is his game.

PJ, Josh Summey, and Austin Stroupe all live within about 15 miles of me and each other. JGR Mx is only about 30 miles from me as well. There are a lot of good tracks within a couple hours drive from this area(near Charlotte). There are still quite a few youngsters around these parts that you'll be hearing about soon enough.!!

In 2007, he won his last moto for the championship on a bike that was smoking the entire second half of the moto as well as the silencer falling off.

I can't imagine the pressure he must have been under with a failing bike in a championship situation.

When he crossed the finish line, everyone on the grounds went wild.

Yep. thats why i started a thread on him monday. he did really well this past weekend. not just because he got 6th in his first sx....(which IS great) but he rode smooth and in control, never looked like he cracked under the pressure of all those experienced guys riding his fender. rode smart, smooth and in control and it almost got him a top 5 in his first sx. hes an approchable guy, and super dedicated. There is a link in my other thread to some goon pics of him last year riding around here in NC. pretty funny stuff. I wish nothing but the best for him this year.

thanks for the vid BobbyM.

Bobby, you must not keep up with the Am racing. Note where he is from..............Smile

When I saw him ride a year or so ago I said that I thought he would be better in SX than outdoors. Honestly, I thought he would be even more surprising, but I think he will just keep getting better and better.

He really showed what a good start can get you. Kid looks great on the bike, if he starts up there a few more times he will probably stay there.

PJ is 18yo. dob 10-16-90. moved to cali from nc in september.
born in mt pleasant, sc raised in awendaw, sc (20 miles east of charleston)
started riding at 9, birthday present in late 1999.
top 10 at LL on 65's in 02.
started with team green on 85's in 04.
125's were a flop for him, even though he was fast on them.
was bad azz on a 250 smoker!!
destroyed (literally) 4 strokes for the first 8 months that he rode them.
XTG as amateur A for 07-08
always moved up a little early and stayed under the amateur radar.
didnt win an amateur title until mini o 2006, MX B mod.
from 11/06-8/08 won 14 titles including 2 at Lorettas.
happy to be with Motosport Kawasaki and looking forward to advancement.
big thanks to Canidae pet foods for all that they plan to bring to our sport!!!!

I have to agree with Bobby on this one. Unless they are totally dominating in am's like Alessi, Stewart and Carmichael did they seem to come on slow in the pro's or make no impact at all.

There are lots of big FISH at tiny little tracks everywhere.

PJ is putting in the work and keeping out all all of the distractions in Cali. Same cannot be said for some other riders that are better known than PJ.
